Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Gerald Monroe Gibson
- 1
- 2
I never had the pleasure of meeting Gerald but one time. You can still feel him around the Sheriff's Office. He was loved by many deputy's. When talking about stories that happened over the years you can almost guarantee that anyone whom knew this man has a story to tell. Gerald you can still feel your presence even though your not with us your memory lingers. It's been 7 yrs since your EOW, but a day dosent go by that you are not truly missed. Watch over your brothers Gerald while they strap on thier gear and hit the pavement to yet another day. Rest in peace friend.

Bubba,
It has been five years ago tonight since you were taken from us. Seems like only a short time ago that we were answering calls together, making jokes and laughing.I just wanted to remind you that that five years has not erased you from our minds, hearts and souls. Rest easy Bubba and keep an eye on the rest of us.

GERALD WAS MY CLASS PERSIDENT , WE GRADUATED FROM TLETA JUNE OF 1997 AND I REMEMBER THINKING BACK TO A CLASS WHERE THE INSTRUTOR MADE ALL OF US STUDENTS LOOK AROUND THE ROOM, AS HE TOLD US THE GRIM FACT THAT AT LEAST 10 OF US WOULD BE KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. NEVER WOULD I HAVE THOUGHT GERALD WOULD BE ONE OF THEM!! I REMEMBER OUR "PRE PT COFFEE AND SMOKING SESSIONS" AT 5 AM BEFORE WE WOULD HAVE TO RUN. HE WAS TRULY A WONDERFUL MAN AND IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE TERRIBLY MISSED!!!!!

"Bubba" I will never forget the day I was hired onto the department as a correctional officer and you were standing in the upper parking lot congratulating me, and all the trips we took while I was still in high school. Thank you so much for the support you gave me during these years.

In my duties as an emergency physician in Hawkins County, the paths of deputy Gibson and I crossed many times. I remember him as a calm, cool, unflappable gentleman with a humerous dry wit. He will be sorely missed by us in the ER.

Even though u are gone dad...we miss u and love u more and more every day. We look at the pictures from Marcie's wedding day and think about how happy you was. You will always be with us in our hearts and minds. We love and miss u daddy.

Bubba,
The mornings are a little darker and the hallway a little quieter since you're gone. But, you will never really be far away...the "what do you say, Bubba!"'s and "Whatta ya doin', Rod?"'s are going strong. So, like it or not, Bubba, you will be a part of us forever.
We miss you and we love you.

I just read your reflections about your wonderful father and I had to leave a note that I am very sorry you lost him. I know how you're feeling because my first husband was killed in the line of duty in 1998 and my heart broke when I read the reflections you left for him on how much you miss your father. I know how you feel because the pain is so bad sometimes that it's almost unbearable. But trust me, God does give you the strength to go on and survive. I hope you all are doing better now. Know that your dad is watching over you every day from up above. He is up there with all the other officers having a good time waiting for us.
May God bless each and every one of you!!

It has been 1 year and still nothing has chnaged. I still miss you dad more and more every day. I think the hardest part is when I get married you wont be there to walk me down like you did Marcie. I just wished you was here to see how things are going for me now. I dont live in Rogersville any more Im in Lenior City. Mom and Marcie still miss you more and more every day but we are strong and I know we can get on with our lives but no matter what we will never let the good times leave us. We all love and miss you alot dad.

GERALD GIBSON WAS A PERSONAL FRIEND OF MINE FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND WORKED UNDER MY COMMAND FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. GERALD WAS VERY DEDICATED TO HIS JOB AND HIS COMMUNITY. HE WAS ALWAYS STRIVING TO BE THE BEST HE COULD BE. HE IS STILL DEEPLY MISSED AND HIS SHOES WILL NEVER BE FILLED BECAUSE THERE WILL BE ONLY ONE "BUBBA".
