Your heroism and service is honored today, the 9th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I can see by the reflections left that you are loved and missed by many. Your family is in my heart's embrace.

I don't know where to begin. You're missed each and every day and as June 21 approaches it is still difficult to come to terms with it all. I miss your crazy antics and infectious smile. You're brothers today paid a nice tribute to you. I am very proud!
Know that you are loved my friend!

Jeff,

Although you were gone when I came
I can't help but know your name
I see your face in the hall
your picture watches and stands tall
Your legacy will always live on
where you've been and what you've done
Another year has come and gone
you'll never be forgotten in our home
To your memory there is no end
we've never met but I'll still call you FRIEND!

Rest In Peace Brother

This happened over 8 years ago and I somehow missed it. It overwhelms me
that sooo many people deeply miss you today that worked with you in all different kinds of situations and knew you best. Officer Moritz served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him. It is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, Officer Moritz. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can.

I have been retired from Flag PD for sometime now, but I can still see that smile. You are one special man and I am so sorry that your gone. I know your boys will be very proud to here their Daddy paid the ultimate price. Thanks for being a part of my life.

8 years you've been gone and it doesn't get any easier. Today at the memorial, I didn't see a dry eye in the house. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you my friend and I know for a fact that I am not alone. We miss you.

Eight-years ago today you made the ultimate sacrifice. In your honor those who knew and loved you along with those who never met you but know the man you were shall have the yearly "Moose call" You have never faded in our memories or stories. God speed my friend.

It has been almost 8 years since you have been gone. We will never forget the sacrafices you made for your department. Each day that a officer dies " In The Line Of Duty" it rains. We try to protect our community as well as the people that live there. Each day we go on duty we take the risk of not being able to come home to our loved one's. You are the first officer in Flagstaff PD to be killed in the line of duty. You are one brave warrior and I think about all the officers in this state the die in the line of duty.

I've been an officer for more than a decade and I'm still afraid of not being able to come home to my loved one's. The last officers that died in my department had 2-4 years of experience. One Officer Cortez PPD 8232 was a 2 year veteran with a wife and two kids. He was gunned down july 27, 2007 the night i was on duty. Another officer Nick Erfle PPD 6994 was gunned down by an illegal immigrant september 18, 2007.

You are not alone you are with the rest of the officers who have died in the line of duty. May you all rest in peace.

Today i went by your rock to say good bye. I have already spoken with different people who shall take care of you on your birthday and on 6-21 of every year with those certain things you like. God speed my friend, and i shall be back to visit.

May 14, 2008

Jeff, I think of you always. I am teaching in Germany now and will never forget when you were in my 5th Grade at Sechrist School. Those were magic years for all of us and you helped teach me how to be a teacher. You are a light of happy memories and a great role model for all young men. Thank you for all of the visits you made to your "old" teacher after you left Sechrist! You always made me feel like the job I did mattered. You grew up to be an amazing man, doing an important job in the city we love. Thank you for blessing me and all of us with your presence! I miss you! Mrs. Caldwell

Jeff,

I came onto this department several months after your death. Although I never knew you, I can't help but feel your power and spirit everyday I go to work. I can only hope to have the friendships you have or be the officer you were...I know that God is watching over your family so you need not worry. I think of Stacy and your boys all of the time. Even though you may not be here in body, your sons will know your spirit as you will lay claim to them and they will always be yours and nothing will ever change that. Rest in Peace and God Bless.

Jeff, I appreciate what you have done for the city of Flagstaff, and the department which you served. I am now older and often reflect what happened that night, from what I understand from my dad (retired F.P.D.), the community and your fellow officers you are truly a great man. I am currently trying to become an officer here as well,I hope that I am half the cop that you were; as well as half the smile...I send out my prayers to your widow and your kids, as well as the rest of your family. I know God's hand is on your family now, as well as forever. Future Officer F.P.D.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
