Rest in Peace Brother Officer. I was good friends with your wife Maryanne’ brother George in College. I am so sorry what happened to you and Maryanne. Her family always treated me great and they made me feel so welcome. I had lost my mother the year before I met them due to cancer. Every time I pass that section of Highway it affects emotionally. Thank you for your service and God Bless You in Heaven brother.

I had the privilege of meeting him just days before his death. Was both shocked and saddened when I saw the news of his death on the evening news that night.

I was the class leader of class 286. Dennis like me was a little older than the average recruit and as a result I relied on him to help me with the younger officers. Myself and another Officer from the Greer PD went to the funeral. When I first heard of the death I was gut punched. This is not the first of my close friends I've seen taken away. I go to the memorial every now and then and I always look for your name I remember you and I will never forget you.

Im not a police officer or anyone special. I was driving on the highway today that is named after you taking my husband to work and I seen the sign with your name on it and I thought Ive got to go home and research his name. When I realized who u were and what had happen to u I got so mad at the pure evil in this world and wondered how many people drive by that sign everyday and will never know what u went through trying to keep our city, our state, our country a safe place. Thanks to all the police officers, soldiers, firefighters and to anybody that is willing to risk their for a cause or just an ordinary housewife like me.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

I am a criminal justice major in Columbia SC. One of our assignments for our Police Administration class is to do a bio on a fallen police officer. This breaks my heart. It should break our whole nation's heart. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice and thoughts for your family, fellow officers, and friends.

I remember Dennis from the police academy as I was one of the trainers. He was always eager to learn and always smiling, laughing and enjoyed himself as well as his fellow classmates. The officers I know from Horry County Police were very distraught when he was killed.
We all miss him as a brother and as a friend.

It has taken all these years to write you but you cross my mind more than just often. I remember the last time I got to talk with you it was about 2 weeks before you left this world and we talked about how things were going while we drank a cup of coffee. The radio blurted out 353 for a call and you had to leave.
Dennis and I worked on the squad together in one the most rural areas of the county before he was transferred to Conway, we were partners for a while backing each other up. In the early morning hours when I got the call, I cant even remember driving there.....it was one the hardest things I've ever done was to see you there...few only know what it is like to pick one of your own up....just know I did so with care, anger, sadness, and pain. You are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten as long as I live, until the day we meet again my friend!
