I am so sorry to hear of her loss and the memory will never be forgotten of those who fall even in a tragic accident. I also am sorry to hear that so many are disrespecting this site and hope you do not lose faith that there are a lot of us out here who want to hear of such tragedies and remember the fallen. God bless all of you.

Tanja was a great officer who had a infectous smile and loved life. I got to meet her family and they are all great people. I was her Chief of Police at the time of her death and have not forgotten her sacrifice.

I am sorry it has taken me 15 years to leave a reflection. I still work the same side of the city and pass the place where your life ended at least once a shift. I still remember arriving and finding your car. I remember looking at the car number and knowing it was you. I remember the look on (then) Sgt. Waters face when he realized it was you. To my former academy mate, to the friend who would cover my courtesy officer calls on my nights off and to the person who was destined for even greater things, I miss you terribly. I will continue to honor your memory and wish I had you here for just one more day.

You had called me in the Comm Center from one of the "PACE" offices (7-11) to discuss going to GA to surprise Eddie on his birthday (Eddie also shot w/ Desalvia) when the emergency call went out, you said "Oh let me go to that, I'll call you back!" and that was the last time we spoke. I think of you more often then I could ever describe, and miss you terribly. You were an amazing inspiration, person, cop and friend. I love you mama and I know you hear me talking to you all the time. Thank you for being there for me....still

May 13th, 2000, spoke with Tanja while walking towards the Memorial for a few mimutes. Commented to her how hot and humid it was, just like back in Orlando.
Shocked and very sadden to learn of her passing 5 days later.
Tanja, 15 years later I still think of you each year and go to your name on the Wall, just to say hi.

Tanja,
We became classmates and friends in the LAPD Academy. I thought it was funny when I took you running and you didn't know how good you were at it. We had a lot of good times. I was working in West Valley when the tela type came through. It was kinds of strange that I was standing there when it came.
RIP and God Bless

A death is never easy and the loss of such a warrior is sad. My heart and prayers go out to the family of Tanja. I have never had the honor of meeting Tanja King but I know she has made a deep impact for women in Orlando. I am thankful for Tanja King and her family for allowing her to be a hero that made a difference.

I was looking through some old academy photos and came across your big smile in the photos. Remembering those eight months we spent together in training brings back so many funny times. We sure did have a good time. It's been 13 years since you were tragically taken but everyone who you touched continue to honor your memory. Continue to watch over your brothers and sisters in blue.

Dear Tanja,
It was 13 years ago, May 18, 2000 when God called you home to "Rest In Peace". We miss you very much and still think of you every day. We just have to "Keep Our Faith" and "Trust" in God and know that one day, we will see and be with each other again. LOVE ALWAYS, Mom and Dad

You are in my thoughts today, as well as all our fellow officers that gave of themselves, and their ultimate sacrafice. I often remember the times you and I sat behind the station and talked about life, and our conversation about your trip to Washington DC just prior to your untimely death. I know exactly what your frame of mind was as you were driving to Willie Mays Parkway to help a officer calling for immediate assistance. You had already lived through George DeSalvia's untimely death, and you wanted to be there ASAP for your fellow squad mate. Those thoughts and our conversations will never be forgotten my dear friend. I have since retired, and I honor you and all other officers killed in the line of duty for my achievement. Fly with the angels...

I've been looking at these Reflections over the years wondering what to write... so I'll just say I miss you, Tanja, and am thankful for the countless good times and laughs. I'm not surprised you touched so many people's lives post-college. Also sending my good wishes and strength to Tanja's family and friends.

Tanja,
You are a very lucky officer. I have been searching for my brother, Lt. Dan Wellington, for years. I finally found his reflection for you, dating back to 2007. He had wonderful things to say about you, so I'm sure you were a good person and police officer.
Dan,
Please get in touch with me.

I will never forget coming into work and finding you at my desk! From that day on, I looked forward to coming into work to find your sticky to see what I could do to help you. Your encouragement while I exercised was always welcomed and has taught me a lot. I have never forgotten that horrible day 11 years ago. My Mom had a badge charm made with your number on it so that I can wear it and whenever I do, which is most days, I always get asked about it. You will never be forgotten! Rest in peace my friend.

To the King family, I know that the pain in your hearts today is as strong as it was this dreadful day in 2000, but may you know that we will not forget your hero. Thought of you today. Thought of your kindness today. And of the laugh we had when we both tried to handcuff a man who was kinda heavy and we ran out of cuffs to link together.
Miss you my friend.
