I remember being a police explorer along with you as teenagers and us beginning our law enforcement careers right about the same time in Ohio. Your funeral was the first police funeral I ever attended and one I remember well until this day. I’ve thought about you many times over the years and hope you are at peace with the lord. I know that you were a great and selfless person and I pray that God has graced your family with the understanding that you gave your life doing what you were born to do, protecting our community.

My partner and I were assigned to the hospital where they took Robert after the accident to "watch" over his family as a courtesy. And although I didn't know you personally, after spending three nights with your family and friends in that hospital waiting area talking, laughing, crying and praying I felt as if I did.
A year later my partner and I attended the National Police Memorial in Washington DC as we had lost a brother in the Cleveland Police Department a month after Roberts tragic accident and they were reading his name off with all the other hero's lost in the past year. As we were leaving Arlington National Cemetery we happened upon a few familiar faces. It was Robert's mother and a few other family members we had gotten to know the previous year. After staring at each other for a few moments in disbelief, we shared some hugs and of course more tears. I truly believe fate brought us together that day.
I think of you and your family often. Thank you Trooper Perez for your greatest sacrifice and for protecting the citizens of the great State of Ohio. You'll never be forgotten.

My partner and I were detailed to the hospital where Robert was taken after the accident. We spent 3 nights with his family in the hospital waiting room talkng, laughing, crying and praying. Although I didn't know you personally, being around your family and friends I felt as if I had.
Almost a year later to the day, that same partner and I traveled to Washington DC to attend the National Police Memorial as we had lost a fellow brother in the Cleveland Police Department that same year and his name was being read. As we were leaving Arlington National Cemetery we happened upon a few familiar faces, Roberts mother and family. We all looked at each other in disbelief. Brief greetings and hugs were given and yes, a few more tears. My thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family. Thank you for your service and ultimately for your greatest sacrifice protecting the citizens of the great State of Ohio. You are truly missed.

Robert,
I dont know much about you, only the best relayed from your brother Tone(Tony). All that I know is that I heard that you were a squared away state trooper and I appreciate all that you were able to do to secure our safety in the state of Ohio.

I didn't know Robert, but his memorial has become part of the scenery as we travel back and forth between cities. Each time we pass mile marker 121, I nod a greeting. For service given and sacrifice in the line of duty…for his reminder that I need to live every day like it is a gift, I leave a thought of thanks.
Robert Perez, you are not forgotten. Especially by me.

I worked with him at LPD when he was a CO. He was so proud to become a Trooper and he would have done amazing things in his career if he had the chance. He was taken way too soon and is truly missed! Family was very important to him and our thoughts are with them this week and always. RIP my friend until we see you again!

I remember the days at CP and later trying to talk to Robert while he was polishing the items in the museum at the academy. He was not suppose to talk to me but OSPs rules for cadets was not going to stop friendship. You, and that hat, are missed.
