Jason:

Paul said in Phipippians 1:3, "I thank my god upon every remembrance of you."  And I to thank God for knowing Jason.  He seemed like he had always been part of our family.  Although we are Christ's extended family - we were treated with love and respect.

We don't understand why Jason had to leave us so young but we will have an eternity to ask why?

God blessed Christa and Jason with Hayden, and maybe Hayden won't remembver a lot, we do know that a persons basic philosophy of life is established by twelve months of age.  So Jason developed his philosophy of life in Hayden, he also gave him that great big smile.

We will miss Jason but we know that we will see him again.

Aunt

Jason,

We only knew you for a short time, but we still miss you terribly.  Ryan still asks about you and remembers the time you spent together on New Years.  I wish we would have had more time to get to know you better.  I guess that time will come eventually.  You have a beautiful family here and I know you are watching over them.  Don't worry, Madison will be sure to give Hayden plenty of kisses!

Lori Rayburn

Jason,

Every since we graduated the academy I have had the pleasure of staying in contact with Jason due to the fact that he was able to come work in Mercer County from time to time. Jason was one of the greatest people I have ever had the opportunity to know.  He always had the ability to make everybody laugh. He lived next door to me in the academy and the stories that I could tell are vertually endless, just like his memory. Jason, I think about you every day and miss you very much.  Every time I go to work I keep thinking that you will walk through the door with another DUI. Until our next formation in Heaven. Your friend Josh(Harrodsburg Police #168)

Jason,

I only came to know you a little bit this year, but I know I will never forget you.  I will never forget seeing you come into the school with Hayden and other things for Christa.  You always had a smile on your face, even with your arms loaded down.  I hope you know I will do whatever I can to help Christa to heal.  She is a special person and her love for you was always shining through.  I wish love and peace to your family.

Jason,

I miss you much.  I did not even know you for that long of a time, but I hurt like I have known  you forever.  Lori and myself still cry thinking about you and your family.  It still makes me cry to hold your son.  If this letter finds you in heaven, I want you to know we will do anything to help your family make it through this time.

I miss you

Jason, you will always be a great man in my heart.  It was always a blast working with you, Daryl and Pat when you worked with Drive Smart.  I will never forget when you would talk about joining a police department, then hearing you got hired by KVE...you made a decision only brave men and women do, to become a Law Enforcement Officer.  Jason you will be remembered as a great man and a brave man.  We all miss you. Rest with God now little buddy!

Jason,

Well, it has been almost three weeks now, yet I still wait to here from you or see you and the family pull up in the driveway.  It as though you packed up in the middle of the night and left us all without saying goodbye.  I guess we will here our goodbyes from you eventually.
I could probably write forever telling you all the things I want to say, but I know that you know and have seen everything going on since your wreck.  I hate that this has happened to you, but could not be more proud of the work you have done in law enforcement and lives you have touched with your own life.  Jason, I love you and you will always be missed.  Don't worry, between Christa's family and the LaRue clan,  Christa and Hayden will always be looked after.  I am sure you will be hearing from me from time to time.  Until I join you up there, keep me a spot close by and have a cold one waiting for us.

Missing my little buddy,

An unfinished letter lays open on my desk.  I just can't seem to find the appropriate words to capture all that I want to tell your son, Hayden.  There are so many stories, so many wonderful characteristics and such a beautiful spirit that I want to tell him about.

You and Christa and me and Chad were together more often than not these past years.  I find it difficult to even go to the grocery without expecting you guys to be with us!  To say you were our best friends is not nearly enough...you're family!  Did we tell you often enough how much we love you?

You called Easter Sunday around 10:00 to chat for a bit and see if I would mind watching Hay for you while you were in court Tuesday.  We planned to settle the details over lunch the next day.  20 minutes after we hung up, you wrecked your car while in pursuit.  Christa called at 2:00 AM to tell us the horrible news.  We rushed numbly to your house to be with Christa.  I've never felt such pain and sadness in my life.  Our hearts were torn apart that night. Our "brother", our friend was gone.

Today is Christa's birthday.  You and she were to take Hayden to his one year check-up today, then out to dinner.  I'll be there instead.  Tuesday we quietly celebrated your 27th and Hayden's first birthday with dinner on the new deck you and Tim started.  He and Chad got it finished just in time for Hayden's big party last Friday.  We had a dedication ceremony in your honor; I hope you were there.

Jay, we miss you more than anything in this world.  It is so difficult to look into Christa's eyes and tell her everyhting's going to be okay someday when I'm not even sure it's true.  Give us strength for ourselves, compassion for your family and a little of your spirit so we can share it with your beautiful little boy so that he will know joy.  We promise to keep you alive in our hearts so that we can keep you alive in Hayden's.

There will never be another you.

We love you "faggetti"  ;)

Jennifer LaRue

I am the wife of Jason Wayne Cammack.  He had only a few great loves in his life, me, his son, family, friends and his work as an officer. He loved each with his whole heart. Every minute not spent on the job was spent with me and our son.  Jason was a remarkable man.  He never had any idea of how honored and loved her was by others.  Everyone was a friend but he would be humbled by the outpouring of tears and kind words displayed.  He hated to see broken hearts and saddness, so to those of you with tears in your eyes, wipe them away and replace them with a big smile.  I would also like to will to all officers Jason's sense of honor and the sense of loyalty to justice.  Every Saturday he sat in our living room and shined his brass and often complained about those officers who had left their uniform untidy and brass tarnished.  For Jason, please show honor to the uniform and make them shine... shoes too!  If anyone would like to submit letters to my son about his daddy please do so to me. He will never know his father in his heart, but I want him to be proud of all his father was.

In his loving memory,

Christa Michele Cammack

Jason, I can't believe that you've passed to the big Department above.  It's hard to believe that you won't be coming to Post tommorrow night to turn in your citations and tell me about your nights activity.  I looked forward to that because you reminded me of how it was when I first started. It's hard to grasp that you won't be out front driving me crazy making that stupid cricket noise you always made (especially after you found out it drove crazy)and having that lopsided grin on your face. I miss you telling me about your son and how much fun he was becoming. I miss you man, I'll see you at roll call in Heaven and you can show me the ropes this time.

See ya then

You did not depart this life in vain. As a friend and co worker I will do my best to honor your name by being the best person that I can be. Whether it be a husband, father, brother or co-worker. I know you would do the same. I will think of you everyday. I will think of your wife and little boy everyday. Although I dont understand why I think when we meet again everything will be clear. One day when your little one asks me about Jason I will be proud to say you were my friend, that you are loved.

512 to 505....

Ready for 5? 10-4, be in route. Jason knew where to meet me. After riding with me for a couple of weeks, he got to know my watering holes. Kinda figured on down the line he'd carry on the tradition. Maybe even pick up a pound or two, like me.

Those who knew Jason knew he was quick to learn the books, made it look easy. As one of his instructors, it always seemed he was enjoying the block of instruction too much, maybe even being on the edge of being called the class clown. However, when it came to crunch time, he always scored right at the top. When it came to doing practicals, he was always one of the first in line with a smile on his face. Kinda made me look like a good instructor.

Jason, be careful with the donut jokes up there! Ya don't wanna get the "Chief" mad at ya. Oh, by the way, the next FOP meeting we have together, you do the cookin.

512 to 505. Keep an eye on your Brothers and Sisters, will ya? We'll be 10-10 until we get to roll call. See ya then.

You have touched many with your life's work, no doubt. You touched me greatly in passing, may the Lord bless and keep your loved ones, brother. You are missed more than can be imagined.

Jason (505),

I still can't get the picture out of mind from Easter Sunday. We just can't believe it's true that you left us so soon. The County & City guys were all there for you & your family Wednesday. We all had a rough time, but we had to give support to your family by being there for them and you. There was a ton of people there from all agencies and your F.O.P. Lodge did a great job for you. We miss you buddy, but we all know that we will see you again someday. In the meantime, take care of things there in heaven. I've got a lot of family up there for you to tell hello for me. Just don't give my Dad a ticket if he's running to fast on the streets of GOLD. Well man I guess this is it. But everytime those hairs raise up on the back of my neck from now on...I'll know it's you looking out for me.

Take care man,

Jason,

I made it home to see the family recently.  I had a chance to see Jenifer, Herbie, and and your grandmother, and played golf with Wes (you would have loved watching that!).  Everyone misses you greatly, and it's  hard at times to remember that we will see you again in Heaven with Jesus, Big Mom, Dude, Whitey, and all the generations before them.  We are all so proud of you Jason, and love you.  Your always in our thoughts!  Shine on us Jason until we all meet again.

I just wrote to you the other day, but I wanted to share the lyrics to a song that reminds me of you, Christa & Hayden. I am trying desparately to fight back the tears right now for some reason...I read the last couple of posts from Chad and Christa & it's just about too overwhelming. I honestly don't know how we'll ever get over losing you, but I thank God daily for allowing us to share your short life.

The following lyrics are from a song by Lonestar.

"...A little voice came on the phone

And said 'Daddy when you coming home?'

He said the first thing that came to his mind

I'm already there

Take a look around

I'm the sunshine in your hair

I'm the shadow on the ground

I'm the whisper in the wind

I'm your imaginary friend

And I know I'm in your prayers

Oh I'm already there

She got back on the phone

Said I really miss you darling

Don't worry about the kids they'll be alright

Wish I was in your arms

Lying right there beside you

But I know that I'll be in your dreams tonight

And I'll gently kiss your lips

Touch you with my fingertips

So turn out the light and close your eyes

I'm already there

Don't make a sound

I'm the beat in your heart

I'm the moonlight shining down

I'm the whisper in the wind

And I'll be there until the end

Can you feel the love that we share

Oh I'm already there

We may be a thousand miles apart

But I'll be with you wherever you are"

I pray that Hayden,Christa and the rest of your family and friends will find comfort in knowing that you will always be with them in spirit.

Jason,

Christa, Hayden, Gayle, Jennifer and your Mom and Dad are leaving for Washington Sunday to honor you and pay respect to all fallen Law Enforcement officers. I still cant beleive this really happened to such a wonderful person and loving family. I pray for Christa and your beautiful son, I pray for your wonderful mother and father, your brother Gayle and sister Jennifer and your beautiful neice and nephews. I keep a scrap book for my son so he can see what a very bright, young, loving uncle you were and what an impact you left on everyone who ever knew you or any member of your family. You will never be forgotten Jason...your memory lives on...God Bless...

Still think of you often. Even after three years, the pain is still there. Sometimes we wish we could take things back, but I guess that's not possible. Thank you for being my friend Jason. It was fun. And I will never forget you. Take care of all the LEOs out there. Bless you for everything you did.

Jay, school is finally out and I have one more week before I can stay home and take care of a few things I have put on the back burner. I will not be babysitting for the first time in years. I will as always be there if any of them need me. I misss you so very much it is like I can't wait for you to come home and you're not. The other night I had a dream that you hadn't been calling me and I couldn't understand why. When I woke up I was so sad I realized you will never be able to call me again. I miss you so very much. We all talk about you every single day. Oh how I wish you were here with us. No one can imagine what I am going through. Love you with all my heart and soul. Someday we will be together. Can't close without mentioning Hayden of course. He had his first t-ball game Saturday and it was a hoot. He stood on 1st base and hollared hi Nanny and waved. Oh how I wish you could have been there. To see other daddy's with their little boys it broke my heart. He is a go getter he runs after the ball each and everytime someone hits it. Even when his team member gets the ball he takes it away from them. I bet he ran for miles trying to get the ball first. The coaches are so good to him they encourge him and give him high fives. God Bless and Love Forever and Ever.
