Gavin,
I can't believe how the years pass. I think about you all the time and tell my family and friends about our times working together and riding (Baby-G KS). I jsut whish there had been more we could have done. Replay the events over and over and just can't make since of it. I promise to never forget. I know your watching over everone along with Brian and all our other brothers in blue.

Hard to believe that it's been almost 9 years. I never knew you, but was one of those who tried desperately to pull the vehicles apart in order to get you out. It's a night I will never forget. Rest in peace.

Hi Gavin, The last time I wrote you was for Fathers Day last year. I will still bring you flowers when I visit Brian. I hope you like the yellow ones today. I hope you are keeping Brian in line up there and you both along with Bryd keep Southwest District in your prayers and watch out for your family in blue. It's summer now and the streets get worse. I don't know how much worse Baltimore City can get, but the Officers here need constinct prayer. Bless you today. I hope your family is doing o.k. Happy Father Day.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Officer Gavin,
You were such a pleasant and nice person to work with in the Southwest. Just like I wrote to Officer Byrd, everyday I think about you, Officer Winder, and Officer Byrd and I just cry in disbelief. I just posted another memorial page (along with Officer Winder's and Officer Byrd's) on my new locker at work. I look at the locker everyday before I start my daily tour. May GOD and you continue to watch over your family.

Hey Gavin, Happy Fathers Day! When I go to visit Brian, I told you I would always bring you flowers and I will. I try not to bring you any pink ones. I remember meeting you once. I worked with your cousin at one time in Towson. I feel like you are apart of my family. I hope your family and children are doing well. Peace be with you today. Keep Brian in line up there please.

Hey Kevon,
Eventhough I only had inservice with you twice, I remember some of the jokes you would tell us on the mat during breaks and how you told us that one day the dispatcher kept thinking you was a female on the radio. Strange how I remember all that and I didnt really know you, I was just one of guys sitting around wondering when we get lunch lol. It reflects the type of person you were. R.I.P.
