We have had to say goodbye...again...to a brother.  It is with great sadness and regret that we lost Officer Oscar Perez who gave the ultimate sacrifice on Friday, March 24, 2000.  We will miss you Oscar...but we will never forget.  To Lisa and Children, you too have given the ultimate sacrifice and for that we are so very sorry.  Our hearts are broken.  But we are grateful to you for your unselfishness in sharing Oscar with us.  You will forever be a part of our family...our family of Blue.

In your memory and honor, Oscar.

Our deepsest heartfelt sympathy to the Family and Friends of Officer Oscar Perez. Thank you from a greatful Nation for your dedication and courage in defending our country.  "I love the Lord, because He hears my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefor I shall call upon Him as long as I live." Psalm 116:1-2

Officer John D.Sainz
Tucson Police Department

Oscar you will be missed.  It was a sad day when the Lord took you home and left our department without a great officer and friend.  However, you were always positive and thats how people should remember you.  I remember all the pain, sweat and triumph's we endured in the academy and then the pride we all had when we graduated together as a team!  You will always be a part of Class 93A, and we will never forget the sacrifice you made, and the HERO you will be to your children and the rest of us. Goodbye Oscar.

John Wheeler
San Antonio Police Department

Oscar we shall never forget you. You gave all and asked nothing in return, turning to meet your foe and standing bravely with your brother officers without hesitation. Rest in peace for you have fought the the good fight and redefined your creeds. We remember you with pride and love in our hearts for you set the example we strive to follow.

Much too often a fellow South Texas Officer falls in the line of duty.  While one officer is "too many", the San Antonio area has truly been hit hard in the last year with five officers laying down their life for the citizens that they serve.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the family and friends of Oscar Perez.  May God watch over you all.

What a shock when I viewed a video clip on-line from a TV station in San Antonio. They gave a name, Oscar Perez, and showed a picture that came across very blurred. I thought to myself, this can't be the same Oscar that I know? Sadly, it turned out to be true.

I am a former Dispatcher of the San Antonio Police Dept and dispatched to Oscar many times. He always had a smile and a quick wit or a joke for you. If he could tell by the tone in my voice that I was not quite myself,he would send a funny statement over the computer and make me laugh. I would call his call number on the radio or send a message back and say "Thanks". My thoughts and prayers are with all 'my officers' and Oscar's family. Good-bye Oscar.

Officer Perez, seven years ago when you put on your blues, and your well deserved shield, you made a difference. You became my Brother. You have seen the good and the bad, and like others who fell in the Line of Duty, Brother, it sickens me it makes me sad. Shine a light on us, while you patrol in the land of peace where only the best can go. Visit us some night when we are doing our nightly beats. We will finish where you left off. Like you, we will do what most will never do. We may go home and some will never get to say goodbye. For you my Brother, Goodbye. I keep my flag at half mass. This is for you. Bless You my Brother. Goodnight.

I will always remember you Oscar, the calls we made, the laughs we had and the personal feelings we shared.  I am proud to have known you and served with you.  Whether on the beat or at roll call you always had a smile and in my heart you always will.  How I hurt when the emergency tone echoed on the radio and so many of us had to stand our watch and pray for you and could not rush to aid you, our partner, "Mighty Mouse", the "O.P."  I know you are safe in the hands of our Lord, because you only shared your love and concern with all who touched you.  You will always be our West Side brother and we will not forget. Goodbye Oscar.

Oscar and I worked together in the Bexar County Jail before he went to work at the SAPD. Oscar was always quick with something funny to say when the days started to drag. I still remember the day he left the S.O. for the SAPD. We miss you bro. All of us who worked up on the 4th floor, in CE unit. Mark
