It has almost been 6 years to the day that you were taken from this earth. I'll never forget that day. As my husband and I ate lunch that day, I remember the call coming over his police radio (my husband is retired from the High Point Police Dept.) about a Deputy that had been shot. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for your time that you gave to the Sheriff's Dept.

4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends

Deputy Cook, thank you for your service and dedication. You will be missed and never forgotten. May your family, fiancee, and everyone who loves you stay strong in the memories and love you shared with them.

I lost my fiancée, Scott Stewart, in August of 2002. There not a day that goes by without him in my heart and mind. I understand the pain your fiancee must feel from being ripped from you to soon. The support and love from others who know my pain have helped tremendously.

To your fiancee, if you ever feel the need to reach out to others who know your pain, please contact me and other s/o’s. A search on yah groups will bring you to us. Just enter the below as it is.

Always remember as long as your heart beats Todd will be with you. He’s there everyday in your heart.

Hugs,
Monica

I never dreamed it would be me, my name for all eternity, recorded here at this hallow place, alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the line of duty," I hear them say: my family now the price to pay. My folded flag stained with their tears; we only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest, I sleep now in eternal rest. My sword I pass to those behind, and pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me, and with heavy heart and bended knee, I ask for all here from the past: Dear God, let my name be the last.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

It was an honor meeting the Cook family at in Washington during police week. The words spoken by Larry Cook's mother as the family approached the wreath to place the flower will forever be etched in my memory. He will not be forgotten.

Before joining the Army last Apr., I lived in Davidson county. That's where I grew up and I know quite a few deputies. I wanted to send my prayers and the prayers of my family to the men and women of the Davidson County S.O.

I also wanted to let the family of Dep. Cook know that we will be thinking of them everyday. God bless all of you and all the law enforcement officers around the world.

SPC Lance R. Little
Fort Polk Military Police

TODD AND I WERE FRIENDS AS YOUNG KIDS.  HIS FAMILY AND MINE WENT TO THE SAME COMMUNITY CHURCH AND MY FAMILY AND HIS FREQUENTLY GOT TOGETHER ON THE WEEKENDS.  AS WE GREW OLDER WE WENT TO THE SAME HIGH SCHOOL.  AFTER HIGH SCHOOL I LOST TOUCH WITH HIM AND HIS FAMILY.  I WAS UNAWARE THAT WE HAD ENDED UP IN THE SAME PROFESSION-LAW ENFORCEMENT.  IT WAS NOT UNTIL I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY PARENTS SAYING THAT HE HAD BEEN TRAGICALLY KILLED THAT I KNEW THAT HE TOO WAS A MEMBER OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY.  ALTHOUGH I HAD NOT SEEN HIM IN QUITE SOME TIME IT HIT CLOSE TO HOME.  IT IS HARD TO ACCEPT THE LOSS OF ANY FELLOW OFFICER, BUT ESPECIALLY ONE THAT WAS A FRIEND.  MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY.  I CAN ONLY TELL THEM THAT HE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.  HE WAS A HERO IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD AND THE REST OF US IN THE LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY WILL CONTINUE TO PURSUE HIS EFFORTS OF DOING WHAT WAS RIGHT, GOOD, AND JUST.

This is going to be hard for me, but I'd like to leave a reflection for a very fine Deputy. My reflection is: Dear Trooper Cook, while you're walking the beat, on the great Heavens Streets, please keep an eye on our brothers, sisters and me. Although, your time was too damn short, and your dreams may be incomplete, down here in this place, we'll keep the beat. We will take up, that was left off. To end this violence that plaques us all, will be a Police Officer's Final Call. I Thank You as well as many others from the Heart, It is hard to see my Brother fall. God Bless Your Soul. Your Fiance' and Daughter are our family too. Bless You Misses, and your Daughter. My Family and I will Pray for your well being. Please be strong. I know it is hard, but let your Daughter know, Who Daddy was. Again, Bless You. Very Sincerely Gary Wolter and Family, International MP K-9 Association.

Dir. Gary Wolter

Thank you for faithfully serving the citizens of Davidson County.  We have not only lost a fine officer, but a piece of our spirit.

DEPUTY TODD COOK WAS A GREAT MAN! HE IS TERRIBLY MISSED, ESPECIALLY BY OUR SON MICHAEL! TODD WAS LIKE A BIG BROTHER TO MICHAEL. HE LOOKED UP TO HIM AND HAD ALOT OF RESPECT FOR HIM. TODD TREATED MICHAEL LIKE A LITTLE BROTHER! HE HELPED HIM WITH HIS BASEBALL, A SPORT THAT BOTH WERE PASSIONATE ABOUT AS WELL AS TALKING ABOUT THE LAW! MICHAEL WANTS TO BE A DEPUTY LIKE TODD! WE LOST A GREAT HUMAN BEING WHO LOST HIS LIFE IN SUCH A SENSELESS DEATH! MICHAEL HAS SAID THAT TODD IS AN ANGEL IN HEAVEN AND WE KNOW THA TO BE TRUE! IT DOESN'T HELP THE GRIEF THAT WE ALL STILL FEEL AS WELL AS HIS FAMILY,CO-WORKERS, AND OTHER FRIENDS WHO LOVED TODD DEARLY! HIS BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER WILL ONLY KNOW WHAT A GREAT MAN TODD WAS FROM US AND SHE WILL KNOW HE WAS THE VERY BEST AND THAT HE LOVED HER AND ALL OF US DEARLY. WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU VERY MUCH. YOU BOUGHT GREAT JOY TO OUR LIVES AND OUR HEARTS HOLD YOU AND ALL THE MEMORIES WE SHARED CLOSE TO US FOREVER! GOD BLESS YOU AND THNKS FOR BEIN!

TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF DEPUTY SHERIFF LARRY TODD COOK,

MY SUPERVISOR ADVISED ME OF THIS WEBSITE. I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A WEBSITE THAT CONTAINED INFORMATION ABOUT OFFICERS THAT WERE KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. MY CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO FRIENDS, FAMILY, COLLEAGUES AND ANYONE THAT WAS ACQUAINTED WITH DEPUTY COOK. I HAVE SERVED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR YEARS AND HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT YOU CANNOT TRUST ANY PERSON WE COME IN CONTACT WITH. IT STUNS ME THAT SOMETHING SO MINOR CAN TURN INTO TRAGEDY. I AM SORRY AND MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF DEPUTY LARRY COOK.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED,
OFC MICHAEL CARLSON BADGE #3370 MARIETTA POLICE DEPARTMENT
