MY SON! MY SON! MY SON! WORDS CAN NOT EXPRESS THE GREIVE OF A MOTHER WHOSE SON DIES BEFORE HER. I KNOW THAT YOU WATCH OVER BYRON AS YOU DID IN LIFE. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A DAY IN THE LAST THIRTY NINE YEARS- CONTINUING THROUGH THE LAST FIVE- THAT I HAVE NOT LOVED AND PRAYED FOR YOU! GO WITH GOD-UNTIL WE ARE TOGETHER AGAIN.

The following appears on the west wall of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. May we read it with new understanding, that today's "battlefield" is the streets of our cities. Let us live so that our cherished officers have not died in vain.
"Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Today, November 1, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of P.O. Goelet Alessandro Carlo Beuf who died on this date four years ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Beuf's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

You are all still in my thoughts and prayers and will always be. I hope all is getting gradually better for your wife and kids. I know you are keeping an eye out for them. While you are watching over them, please watch over Jason, too, in this time that he needs us. Thank you, again, for everything that you did in your short time as a wonderful Phoenix Police Officer. It's been a while since you left us. The memories return everytime we see your picture at Cactus Park or at 620 W. We will always see you in the faces of your children. You have left a legacy of love through your family. You will not be forgotten. Your family will never without our support. Watch over us as we patrol and your children as they grow.

We miss you, Goelet. You are in our thoughts every moment of every day. It has been months since you left us, but we still catch ourselves noting funny things to tell you or shopping with you in mind. We may never recover from losing you, and it seems that we will never get used to life without you because we miss you so very much: Your sense of humor, your talents and interests, and seeing you so happy with your wife and kids. Our hearts are broken but we are doing our best. Rest in Peace and we will all be together again someday. Until then, we love you and we'll see you in our dreams

Officer Beuf,
Again I find myself leaving a reflection for another Arizona peace officer who has fallen in the line of duty. Your death however is much more different for me than any other Arizona officer to fall in the line of duty. Yours was the first officer's funeral I have ever attended as a police officer myself. I hope you were able to see how many officers gathered to honor you. I thought of my own wife and child as I watched yours at the gravesite. Please watch over them, and all of us officers who will continue to serve in your absence. Rest in peace Officer in the kingdom of heaven, you have definately done your time here.
