Trooper Miller you passed on my birthday. Being a California Highway Patrolman and knowing exactly how you felt putting your unifprm on each and every day, going to the office attending briefing, meeting with all your buddies. That life is what but a few men can ever have. The responsibilities to continue each and every day serving your great state and your fellow officers is a task we all loved. God Bless you and your family and Semper Fi Brother. You will be remembered forever. I hope your family is at peace knowing you have many friends always thinking of you.

Yesterday was 11 years since that horrible night. I know you would love to see Mandy growing up into a fine little lady. She is playing basketball this year and I knouw you would be there if possible. We all still miss you and at this time of the year it is more evident although we know you are in a better place. Also you would have loved to have seen the grandkids you now have which you will never know. Mandy is a great kid and I know you would be very proud of her. She is going to be as tall as you I think or almost as tall. She is growing up so fast .

I have vacationed in Texas many times; and while in Texas, I have found the eyes of the DPS Trooper behind me more often than the Ranger. I have had the privilege to meet many of Texas finest. Texas Troopers have always been friendly, helpful and willing to take the time to talk about their great state. I have great respect for the DPS Troopers, they are more than a Highway Patrol. Trooper Miller prove this with his life coming to assist brother officers in a 911 domestic ambush. Thank you Trooper Miller for being the finest. Rest in peace my brother.

Trooper Miller and Family,
I want you to know that you are the reason I am so proud to put on my badge and uniform before every shift.
Thank you. You will always be in my prayers.

IT will soon be 10 years since you were taken away from our family. We never forget you. Mandy is growing so fast, wish you could see her. She talks about you and misses you. She is quite a young lady. They are planning a memorial for you on the 12th, don't know all the information yet. I guess Larry is with you now, so you can talk law enforcement all day long now. He always thought and talked about you. We miss both of you.

As police week is celebrated this week we keep you in our hearts and minds. We, along with many other families celebrate this week with hope that someday the death of an officer may not occur and honor those that have gone on before and will in the future. We love and honor you and all others who have given the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. We miss you.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Another holiday has come and gone but we all still miss you. Although you may never know, Ashley now has two little boys that you will never know as your grandsons. Amanda just turned 9 and you would be very proud of her. She is a really smart little girl. I wish you had the chance to see her grow but that was taken away from you.

What sickening news. Only a sick, depraved mind could devise such a devilish plan. Well, he could take
your body, but he can't rob your soul. Can't imagine the
nightmare that night turned into. You won't ever be forgotten!
