I met Kevin at the Essex County Range. We were both instructing. We spent a bit more than a week together with all the other range instructors. Qualifications, especially with recruits, in tails a certain amount of down time (waiting for reloads, etc.) In that time I remember listening to Kevin’s stories. Unfortunately, I don’t remember any of the stories. Nevertheless, I will always remember the “war stories” Kevin told and how I thought he was a squared away officer.

I always like talking with Kevin. I'd be sitting drinking coffee in the Tea garden. And Kevin would pull in and we talk for hours. I miss talking with Kevin. He was also alot of fun to go out with. He was one of a kind.

No matter how bad things were, Kev always had a way of making you look at the brighter side. A way of cheering you up in a real kind of "Guys" way. I think of him often

Kevin was one of the most dependable friends and co-workers that I knew. Whether it was a hunting trip or we were called in for a tactical assignment, he was there, and you always knew he had your back. His dedication to his family, friends and co-workers will never be forgotten.

Anyone who knew Kevin knew him to be not only an outstanding officer, but a good friend. I was lucky to not only have him as a fellow ESU team mate, but shared the locker next to his. There was never a dull moment. He is sorely missed.

Kevin was a super cop, a super Dad and a super brother Officer. He was my counterpart with the Ft Lee P.D. ESU CounterSniper Team, and always a better shot. He called me one day after many hours at a rainy November West Point Military Academy Sniper Training Range;....said he wanted to do "the right thing" and had shot a wild turkey on 'Post' and was preparing to roast it as we spoke. I explained the report that was to be completed for the USMA Fish & Wildlife Ofc, so 'he'd be Legal'....he always did the Right Thing. His integrity was super. He was a Super Cop.

Although i never knew Officer Greener, it saddens me to read of another BROTHER taken from us by fate. May GOD bless and comfort the Greener family, friends, and the Fort Lee Police Department in this time of sorrow.

It was an honor to meet and be in Matt Greener's group during Outward Bound of 2002. He got me through the week and up to the peak.

This is for Matt,
I hope you remember me from camp, I'm Ryan from Indiana. Your dad was proud of you that day on top of that mountain. Email me if you want...
Take care.

I will always remember Kevin, Ira and Myself, standing in the surf at Sandy Hook State Park, "Throwing Metal" at sunrise. I will always miss him...
