Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Bradley Jay Riches
Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

I was thinking of you today Brad and tears swelled in my eyes as I remembered working with you for years in the jail and going places off duty together. I will never forget you. We never did go to England together but I went in your memory. Miss you Brother!

I'm currently a recruit in class #403 of Los Angeles County's Academy. I just read Deputy Riches story for the first time and am touched and saddened at the circumstances in which his career ended. With that said, I am inspired and proud to be entering a career where I'll have the same opportunity that Deputy Riches had to help people. Law Enforcement officers will never be forgotten and their sacrifices will always be cherished by all of those who had the privilege of working with and knowing them.
Thank you Deputy Riches.

Still thinking of you Brad. And like Steve said, it's hard to believe it's been 15 years already, since you were tragically taken from us. A lot of us are retired or getting close to retirement and we promise, we will never ever forget. Thank you for paying the ultimate sacrifice brother...

15 years ago today. I have not forgotten or ever will. Honoring you again. I will always honor and remember your sacrifice. That night, for me, will always be one of the most painful nights I have ever had to endure. That being said, I know you are in a better place. I miss you, my friend, and wait for the day that justice speaks and your killer pays his price.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 13th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I recently fought very hard to keep justice for you, my son, and the other 41 law enforcement officers killed by death row killers. I was proud to be a co-chair of the No on 34 campaign to preserve the death penalty in California and we thankfully defeated those who would have changed the sentence your killer duly received. Your fellow deputies in Orange County helped support our cause. Rest In Peace
I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

My dearest Brad,
I have not visited your country since your death, and do not know if I ever will be able to tread on the land that stole you from us again. you gave me and my family soooo much love and Henry lives on with your middle name as his knowing everything about what a wonderful man you were. That is the problem you were stolen! Having given so much of yourself to others your life was taken cruelly and eleven years on there is not a week I dont think of you! You gave me my honeymoon and due to this sacrificed your visit to see Nan your Mum and family so that I could have the best memories possible, thank you. But the gift we promised you of renewing our vows in a revisit to Las Vegas will never be realised. At least you know that our child regardless of sex would have your middle name Jay, when you visited Blighty and I told you of the news. We didn't know then that it would be the last time to meet and a couple of months later we lost you. Thank you for being Henry's Guardian Angel, you are still sooo loved!!! One day when I can face it, we will as a family visit and show Henry and Poppy what a fabulous Man you were and hopefully Henry can do you proud.
Love You always

The unfortunate anniversary of your last day of watch just passed.I cannot say whether the "OC" is worse in terms of crime, but it most assuredly is not better without guys like you being here. I truly hope your family has taken consolation and peace in the fact that you were proud of your dept and community and that by wearing the uniform you stood for something "better".....
