Reflections for Trooper David Harold Dees
I remember the endless days from Dec 9, 1995 until June 7, 1996 when we were patrol school brothers. You learn alot about a person when you spend that much time with them. I learned that David Dees loved his family and like me was realizing a dream of being a NC State Trooper. That dream was ended way to soon on a lonely road near Elizabeth City. Your 96th Patrol School Brothers will never forget.

For every Officer that goes out to watch over us, "thank you". Some of you go out and never return to your loved ones; yet you take that risk day in and day out. Although we never had the honor of meeting you or your family, we just wanted to express our gratefullness for people like you.

David,
Your were a great friend and like a brother to me. It seems so unfair that you left us so soon, but we are grateful that we had the opportunity and distinct privilege to know and work with you. You left a lasting impression on every life you touched. Our lives are all the more enriched because you were a part of it. My comfort comes from knowing you are with the LORD now and you are well cared for. You'll always be very dear in my heart. I love you, my friend.

What a sad loss of such a fine young Trooper. It is such a blow to lose a good officer like this. The Old North State lost one of it's best when he passed. He now patrols the streets of Heaven with St. Michael.
God Bless his family, friends and colleagues. Be safe.

David took my position when I left the Dare County Sheriff's Office. I met his wife Donna, while I was still working at the Sheriff's Office. I began working with the NC Highway Patrol & David became employed with them later. I was saddened to learn of his death. I am now sharing in your grief in a different way...I lost someone very close to me who was a NC Highway Patrol Trooper also (Calvin E. Taylor). My thoughts & prayers are with you.
