Rick is my uncle.  High school was interesting...having a cop constantly looking over my shoulder, making sure I didn't have any parties while grams and gramps were on vacation, and following my boyfriend around to see if he was a trouble-maker.  It also was wonderful to have a friend who made me laugh.  His sense of humor wasn't always the cleanest, and,often, I was the  only one to chuckle at his off-color remarks.  Straight forward as he was, Rick frequently offended those who didn't understand his dry wit.  But, of course, there was more to him than that.  He was my protector in many situations as my father lives far away.  Now, I only hope that I can let my cousins, Ashleigh and Lindsey, know how much he loved them.
