Reflections for Police Officer Timothy Patrick Huckaby

That Old Cumberland County Boy (as Huck always called me) would like to say one thing. I never could figure out how someone who took their job and family so serious could smile and laugh so much!

Officer Bill Derrick
TVA Police

Huck,

All the TVA Police officers have big ole love handles, because they're not doing the "huck-a-motion!" We miss your motivation at PEB time, and we miss your fun loving, talkative self all the time.

Jo and I have been hanging out. That's one spunky wife you got. I've had the opportunity to get to know your family and they are JEWELS.

TVAP is lucky you spent so much time with us. Thanks for the memories!

Sergeant Trena Palmer

Huck I will never forget all the times we talked about our daughters Kierstin and Sara. You always had me smiling and laughing when I was having a bad day in the Comm. Center. I miss hearing you say "Hey Lil Scooter," that always seemed to brighten my day. Though most of the officers call me Scooterette, you always insisted on Lil Scooter. I remember when I met Jo at the picnic she had no clue who I was until you said Lil Scooter. You were always so full of love and life and it always showed through to all who met you. Listening to the eulogy that Jo gave, I can only hope and pray that at some point in my life I can find true love as Jo and you did. Just so you know Jo and I have been getting the girls together to play. They play so well together. You would be proud to see them together just as Jo and I are. You did not know but my Mom was diagnosed with Cancer March of 1998, and past away on February 27 1999. Watch her and let her know Kierstin and I are fine. Huck you will never be forgotten. When we see Sara, we see you in her smile and eyes. Know that Jo and Sara will always be a part of Kierstin's and my life. I miss you. God Bless. :)

Huck,

You sure could talk. You are a special person and I miss you a lot. I have a lot of great memories and I find myself thinking of them often, which I would not change in the least. Your love of family, sense of humor, and your commitment to the profession is second to none.

We talked the morning of your accident and I get a laugh every time I think of our conversation and the location where it took place. Had I known what was about to take place I would have told you to take a seat and we would have talked all day.

Thank you for being a part of my life, as a true professional but more importantly as a friend.

In Memory of Tim I want to say that although I never knew him very long he touched my life greatly......through kind words and positive attitude, he was one of the nicest officers I have had the opportunity to know........and following his death, he touched my life through others. All the kind words spoken about him by his friends and co-workers showed him to be a wonderful friend and co-worker. The eulogy about Tim given by his wife at his funeral showed him to be a most loved and respected man, husband and father. I can only pray that I leave this world with a memory of love and kindness shown to others such as the one left by Tim. I miss not getting to know him better but cherish the short time I had.

I was hired by TVA, as a police officer, March 1976. One of the first officers I met was Tim Huckaby. We worked together at Raccoon Mountain and later we both transferred to units near Knoxville, Tn. A number of years pasted and Tim transferred to Norris Dam. After a few years I transferred to Norris Dam. Because of our work schedules Tim and I were able to work together a lot. Tim was so full of life. I owe him a lot because many times I asked him to help me out on something and he never failed to help me. I got used to getting calls at home from Tim to keep me updated on events we needed to keep up with at work. Tim was a true friend and a dedicated officer. He was the kind of officer that could make you laugh even when things seemed to falling apart around you. I have many special memories of Tim. I also had a lot of respect for Tim. He was a dedicated husband and family man. In a profession where many officers have marriage and relationship problems Tim made it well known, to everyone, that he was proud to be a husband and father. I miss him

Patrol Officer Jere Conley
TVA Police

Dear Tim,

I will never forget our last conversation the morning of Nov. 24, 1998. You called to tell us where you were going so we would not worry about you. That was just like you always worrying about other people. I do not think you ever knew just how many lives you touched. Your smile would light up a room, especially when you would talk about Sara and Jo. You my friend were an angle in disguise. Now God has made you a true angle. I miss you my friend but I will never forget you.

Dispatcher Cathy Spradlin
TVA Police

Tim,

Although it was almost a year before your death that I last saw you face to face I remember how hard a group of us laughed while at lunch in Knoxville. It was something you said that I really don't need to go into here, you remember and that is 'nuf said. That is the way I'll always remember you, that day, that time. I'll always regret that I was unable to attend your funeral, hope you understand that I was tied up, my wife, in the hospital at that time. Since she has gone on ahead with you I have a request of you. Tell her how dearly I do miss her, help her and protect her til' I can see you both....

Lieutenant Greg Roberts
US TVA Police

Huck was honestly the most positive, upbeat person I ever met. I never knew him to have a bad day. He loved life and made things brighter for everyone his life touched. I never will forget the day we went 4-wheeling and he got too close behind me in the big mudhole. We all miss you Huck and we'll make sure your life continues to make ours better.

Officer Bob Klyce
TVA Police

Tim,

The last time I talked to you, you teased me about being a "grandma" at age 45. I told you my days of raising children were over, but yours were just beginning. Little did I know that your days with your precious Sara would be taken from you so abruptly, and without warning. You touched many lives, with your infectious smile and your quick wit. You are missed, but never forgotten. Godspeed.

Captain Nancy Martin
TVA Police

May God grant your family closure and comforting peace. In your absence, may he somehow assure them that you have transcended from this Earthly bond to the ultimate duty -- patroling the streets of heaven under God's command. Rest easy knowing that your brothers and sisters in arms will continue the fight, and eventually join you for a reunion in a far better place than this. Your devotion to duty will stand as an example to many others that follow you. God speed to your assignment, and God bless the remaining peacemakers.
