Reflections for Police Officer Michael Anthony Ceriale
Michael I remember praying for you and crying at your passing. I remember hundreds of Officer and civilians lining up to donate blood in hopes of saving your life.
I would later become a CPD Officer, ISP Trooper and DSS Agent and I took your picture with me every step of the way.
Rest well, fair winds and calm seas my brother.

Hey cousin, I’ve never spoken publicly about our relationship outside of close family, family friends, and my significant other. I was very young when you passed away so it doesn’t seem right to speak about someone I didn’t know. The few memories I do have of you seem like dreams. You were my godfather and we were destined to be very close. You came over all the time to hang out with my family and I think you took your older cousin/godfather role very seriously. Your passing has always been a shadow over our family and left a big hole in it.
People might not know it but you won the city wide Golden Gloves tournament. I took up boxing as well and think of that fact occasionally. Would have been fun to talk about the sweet science.
My brother and I became very close with your mom. We talk often and she’s one of my favorite people in the world. My brother and I do our best to take care of her but you know how she can be.
Anyway, thought this was a little testament to write.

I was fortunate to carry Mike out of the church. We were friends. A lot of our friendship was trading humor, life challenges and learning strategies about being cops. Heroes die before the rest of us. We were all lucky who knew him, worked with him. And a lot of our youth died with him. I Pray for him.

I can't believe it's been over 22 years now. I attended your candle light vigil across from Cook County Hospital. I'm still saddened by the senseless violence that took you from us.

My Brother John Ramirez is the actual Uncle of Michael, but Michael and I grew up together since he was about 4 and I was 10.
I will always remember Michael as my lil brother, well because I had four older ones, so I wanted a lil brother. Love you Michael, I'll always be proud of you buddy, you were a hero. See you soon...

Hard to believe its been 18 years, feels like yesterday I got the sad news that you had been shot and then the even worse news that you had passed. Gone but never forgotten brother. Still remember us playing softball together. From one Gordon Tech alum to another, RIP.

Hey Mike, just wanted to let you know that you will always be remembered. You were a fellow classmate at Gordon and teammate on the track team. Less than a year after you were taken from us I became a brother in blue and have always thought of you. Praying for your family and you to have everlasting peace.
