Reflections for Police Officer II Filberto Henry Cuesta, Jr.
Fil was an awesome human being. I feel honored to be his cousin. Although we didn't see each other as often, holidays were a time to catch up, laugh, share times and reflect on life. The one thing I know those who were lucky to know him will always remember was his beautiful smile. His whole face would light up and he always touched the hearts of those he
loved. He never hesitated to help people, even those he didn't know. His heart was full of love and compassion. That is what made him an exceptional LAPD officer.
His parents raised a wonderful son, husband, and father. I know he is watching over all of us...OUR SPECIAL ANGEL Fil, I promise to honor your memory and keep you in my heart forever. I love you always....Your Cuz Debbie

IT WAS A HONOR TO HAVE BEEN A CLOSE FRIEND OF FIL'S. GOING TO ST.PAUL H.S., BECOMING POLICE OFFICERS ABOUT THE SAME TIME, I FELT HE WAS ONE OF MY ONLY FRIENDS THAT COULD REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW TOUGH , YET FUN THE STREETS COULD BE.
FIL WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME, AND ONE AWESOME POLICE OFFICER. WHEN WE WOULD GET TOGETHER AND SWAP WAR STORIES, I ALWAYS LEFT WISHING THAT I SOMEDAY WOULD BE ABLE TO BE AS GOOD OF A POLICE OFFICER AS HE WAS. FIL BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THAT YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN! MYSELF,CINDY,BRUNO,LUIGI,MY ENTIRE FAMILY, AND EVERYONE THAT KNEW YOU, STILL THINK OF YOU AND MISS YOU ALL THE TIME.
STAY OUT OF TROUBLE IN HEAVEN BROTHER! WE ALL LOVE YOU!

FORMER RIVERSIDE CA. POLICE OFFICER
To the family and friends of Officer Cuesta,
I am deeply sorry for the lost of a devoted father, husband, family member, friend, and police officer. I too, would someday like to join LAPD. When I heard of Officer Cuesta's death, I was shocked. Although I am just a law enforcement Explorer, to me, hearing of Officer Cuesta's death, it felt like I lost a very close relative. Even though I didn't know the officer, but it felt like I personally knew him. My prayers go out to the family and friends of Officer Cuesta, and my deepest regrets goes to the widow of the fallen, but not forgotten Police Officer. Filbert Cuesta, Jr.

Fil was the best son, friend, cousin, nephew and father!! He is survived by 2 beautiful daughters and 2 awesome parents. Fil and Rose Cuesta raised an awesome son, and they deserve some credit for that. Fil, you will forever be remembered. I will always remember the special times we had. You had the best sense of humor, and you were always there for me when I needed someone. You were the most loyal human being I know, as well as a devout Catholic. All of your St. Paul buds and I will always keep your memory alive, as well as your colleagues in the LAPD!! GOD BLESS YOU FIL!! RUSH Concerts won't be the same, without you.

All funerals for police officers make me cry, but there was none that has impacted me as much as the untimely and unnecesary death of Officer Cuesta. As the wife of a future police officer I can only pray that I never have to go through what his widow and daughter had to go through. May he rest in peace and God bless his family.

I was a neighbor of your family on Offley Street, and have since moved....yet that day always comes to mind at this time of year..and any time we loose one who protects us. When I vist and go past your home the memory is as fresh as that day...I and those of us who lived around you have not and will not forget. We hope you are your children will again find happiness.......your husband was a remarkable man, and so is your family.....I with some of your neighbors tied ribbons on the street..we visited....our grief was great and though small as to deeds...our hearts ached for you and those you love......We do remember......the impact was great on all of us. Will always be......

I worked with Fil Cuesta for two years in Southwest Crash. Fil was a great person and a good friend. I promised myself that Fil will never be forgotten as most of our brother and sister officers are. I wear Fil's memorial bracelet and pin everyday I put that LAPD uniform on. Not just for Fil, but for all of us. God bless all law enforcement.

It has been 4 years since Officer Cuesta's untimely death and I would like to send my prayers to his wife and two children. Fil still remains in all our thoughts and will never be forgotten.
My husband worked with Fil in Southwest for years and has very fond memories of him. He was a wonderful officer.

I still mourn for Fil. I met him at Cerritos college and remember the first day I met him even then he shined. I hold dear things we shared, like music, I still have a tape he made for me, and I can never listen to a Journey song without thinking of him, but most of all I cherish the friendship we had. He was special and I knew he'd be a great police officer. Although I never met his family, You can see the love he had for them. I hope that God watches over his wife and little girls, and Blesses them with all. Fil will always be remembered in my heart.
God Bless

I would just like to say how sorry I am to this officers family, coworkers, and friends. I was watching The Real L.A.P.D. on The Learning Channel. When thay showed that an officer was shot and killed from behind while waiting for additional units altough they did not give the name of the officer or the date I was looking through the Officer down page and noticed this incident and it sounded very familar and I thought I should just extend my sorrow to the officers family. When I look ahead in that some day I might be a Police Officer I hope I can continue you the tradtion all the officers before me stood for. And once again I would like to extend my utmost honor & sympathy to Officer Cuesta's Friends And Family. You Officers make us very proud keep the good work.
Sincerely,
