It was my honor to research newspapers, magazines, online & books to find your ID CARD Photo. I found this photo in a 1999 NYPD MEDAL DAY BOOKLET about your heroic sacrifice. I felt it was necessary to have a photo on this website so that your family & friends can remember you. Rest Easy Hero! Always Remembered!

Hey Carter...Happy Heaven Birthday!!!! Jennifer named her son London Carter and just the other day, she is yelling "Carter" (that means he is in trouble) and it hit me..."it's the end of the month, OMG, another year". I just shake my head but manage a smile. I miss you and you are always in my heart and on my mind.

RIP officer, I worked with your father, P.O. Gaston "Sonny" Carter, 5th Pct., who suffered a heart attack after a 4x12 shift. Your father was well loved by many at the command and what a great ping pong player he was. I'm sure Sonny and his kid Gerald are having a cold one together up in heaven. RIP to both, and you officers will not be forgotten.

Carter, Carter, Carter- my heart still aches, tears still sting my eyes but a smile always spreads across my face when I think about you. The Academy was a fun time. Go Company 93-12! Remember how you always fell asleep in class, never did your homework and always finished my meals. I always laugh out loud when I remember you bothering Jean Marie when you would sing his name and repeat: "Jean Marie, Jean Marie" he would get so annoyed with you. Oh God, I so do miss your laugh...when you laughed it got everybody else laughing. I remember the very first day we met. It was on the Staten Island Ferry heading home and you said,"hello officer", I turned around and gave you the dirtiest look and said, "who the hell are you"?! You explained how we were at the same orientation and we were going to be in the same company...we became best friends that day. We never became partners like we talked about, I ended up going to PSA 4. But we always kept in touch. Hey, I wonder what you did with the pics that you took of my feet for your photography class. Hmmmmm. 2 weeks before you were shot you called me and told me that you needed to talk to me, I fell asleep waiting for you and we never talked about what ever it was that was bothering you... then that God forsaken day took place and my life changed. I went to your grave everyday on my way home from work for a long time, it was like my vehicle was on auto-pilot. I can't believe that it is going on 13yrs. I'm sure you are giving the 'Angels' a run for their money. You are missed dearly and thought about daily.
