Seems like only yesterday we were at the academy... and then two years ago many of us flew in to re-dedicate your memorial. You are never far in my thoughts and I often wonder where you'd be and what you'd be doing now. Peace to your family and those who knew you...

Alex,

I reflect often on that night and that time in my life. I was pretty new at the time (14 months in – N390). We never worked the same shift, but we had met, and I knew who you were. I was on day shift and I still remember being at my locker before shift when a Supervisor told me what happened. The first thing I did was call my wife. We had only been married a month.

Even as the years passed, I have never forgotten you or the sacrifice you made for your adopted country. I have stood at your memorial in Potrero Canyon and touched your name at the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in DC.

This year I was going to be riding in your honor at the Police Unity Tour before it was cancelled by the current COVID-19 pandemic. Next year I will ride the 250+ miles with your name on a bracelet on my wrist and will finish the 3-day ride at the memorial in DC where I will touch your name yet again. Rest in Peace Brother.

(then – N390)

I worked a station near you, Alex. I soothed the Douglas Station as a Senior Patrol Agent. I heard what happened and everyone said you were a gourd agent. Shortly after your end-of-watch, I responded to a drug smuggling situation but due to your incident, I got out of my vehicle with my gun already out and I am glad I did because one of them was armed. They all got 10 years in prison. Letting you know that you are ALWAYS remembered! Thank you very much for your service!

Hey, Alex.
You were a great partner and Journeyman (yeah at the time you didn't have much more USBO experience than me but you had experience prior)
I will forever be morose about what happened that night.
It was the worst night of my career.

You left behind a great family and I remember your Sister (I believe she is a Nurse) brought/sent us medical supplies in your name.

A lot of us still remember and miss you.

I miss shooting the bull with you at the corner of East and Nelson on Swingshift.

Hearing about your Russia/Ukraine experiences and immigrating to America and becoming a United States Border Patrol Agent.

My saddest day in my career was the night you left us.

Just wanted to let You and your Family know you have NOT been forgotten.

I have moved up a bit in the ranks and to several stations but I am still working at the Station level, by choice.

I will always remember your sacrifice that fateful, horrible night.

I took a lesson from it though.
I realized awhile after that night that we were not indestructible Supermen.

Ever since I became t Journeyman, Senior Oareol Agent, SBPA, FOS and WC, I always end my musters with, "Ok, everybody got that?
Good!
We all go home tonight!"

So far it has worked out that way.
Thank you for your Service and your teachings, Alex.

There's a TV program that follows the heroes of the Border Patrol. On that program I saw the memorial in Arizona where you lost your life. Thank you for your service to The United States of America.
