To Police Officer Christopher Horner, his wife and six children, and his loved ones:
On this the eighth anniversary week of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.
My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.
Chris, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.
You served your country well in the Navy.
This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.
Rest in Peace, Officer Horner.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Christopher gave to his community and the citizens of Florida, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 3, 1998.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Today, March 3, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Christopher Todd Horner who died in the line of duty on this date seven years ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Horner’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Ofc. Todd Horner anf Family,
Sir, I first want to say to you and your family that you will never be forgotten in our law enforcement family. Your sacrafice is heavy on our hearts everday, even those of us who never personally knew you. There is no limit to what we will do for your family and for you. I just read that the COWARDS who killed you are finding justice is swift and sure. I celebrate that they are going to taste the justice that they so deserve. The Honor that you lived in your life likewise is rewarded to you and your family for eternity. Our Father in heaven rewards those who loves his fellow man so much that he is willing to lay down his life for them. You are the peace that exists in this violent world. God once asked, "Whom shall I send, and Who will go for Us." Then Isaiah said, "Here am I, Send Me." God Bless your for being willing to go where few will to protect the weakest of us all. "Poi Si 'Torno 'All Eterna Fontana."

I worked with Chris at the Haines City Police Department and have many great memories of him. It really eases my mind that some justice is found in this horrible incident. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder what happened in the cemetery that morning. I always knew someone would be held responsible. Rest in Peace my friend and brother. You will never be forgotten.

I first met Chris when he joined the Police Dept. I was taken by his upbeat attitude. I supervised him on diffrent occasions and
he often rode with me when he was assigned to work the P.D.'s taskforces. Chris often spoke of his navy days, six children and wife that he loved. I knew that Chris had the right stuff to make it in our proffession and I looked foreward to seeing his career grow. The morning of March 3, 1998 I received the phone call from an officer telling me Chris had been shot to death. I couldn't think or breath. Time has gone on now for the P.D. and Chris' loved ones. Chris' grave site has become a place of tranquility that many of us visit. I will always miss Chris.

On March 3, 1998 I arrived in in St. Petersburg, Florida for a weekend visit with my recently widowed mother. I turned on the TV early that morning to check the local weather. My mother was sitting next to me. The local news was broadcasting the live coverage of P.O. Todd Horner's murder from a news chopper. My mother couldn't stand to see a young officer laying dead next to his patrol car. She began to cry and left the room. She spent the rest of the weekend telling me how worried she was that I was a police officer. I never met P.O. Horner, but my heart broke just the same the day he died. God bless P.O. Horner, his family, and all the mothers of Police Officers that worry about their sons and daughters on the job.
