Reflections for Deputy Game Warden Gordon Barnes
Dad, it's been a long time, but I still wonder what it would have been like to have walked through the woods with you, or to just sit down and talk. I never got to see you, but you have always been with me in so many ways. I've always been proud of you and your service. I spent a lot of time in the woods hunting and sometimes just hanging out. It was my get away place . I'm getting old now and it won't be long. Hope to see you.
Love,
Gordon R. Barnes

There are men and women who serve and there are men and women who are will to lay their lives down for those they serve and defend the laws that protect us all, including all of God's creatures. Much love and respect to a man I was never able to meet...my grandfather.

Kim, I am grateful to your grandfather for the sacrifice he made in protecting our natural resources in Maryland. This is Police Week and I visited the wall and have an etching of his name in my office. I too am a Natural Resources Police Officer and count it a privilege to serve in the same Agency that your grandfather did. We often remember him and the others who sacrificed. Be blessed.
