Reflections for Police Officer John Richard Sowa
Dear John, I never had a chance to meet you , however i work 5 days a week where you once worked. The same shift and even sometimes the same beat car. I work with some of the officers who were by your side that awfull night. Some shifts i"ll drive by the location where that dredfull incident occured. It makes me sad to think about what happened and sometimes even mad. You remind me every day, of what is important in life......loving what you do, family and friends. I only wish i was able to answer calls with you. god bless always and forever...... your brother in blue.

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people. Amen.

To Officer Sowa's family,
I was just watching a show on Discovery Health about John's partner, and, since I was already browsing the ODMP, I decided to look him up. Your postings were very touching, and they describe everything that me and my family have felt. It's obvious John was a wonderful person who was greatly loved. Just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of him and all of you tonight from here in St. Louis, MO..
