Chris was one of the kindest police officers I've ever now. I observed long before his murder that he was kind to people when he didn't have to be and at at times when other were not. Chris was a devoted husband and father. I'm certain he is with The Lord.

One of the best men you would ever know! Missed dearly by all that knew and loved him! If you knew him, you couldn't help but love him. Even the prisoners at the jail where he served cried when they heard of the news. Love you Uncle!

Sir,
You died leading your men. You are a true hero and an inspiration to me and other young officers. I can only hope that if ever given the opportunity I will lead out in front like you did. Your story proved to me that a true leader lays down his life if necessary, so that others may live. Thank you for serving with such courage and for being a testament to the fact that hero's never truly die.
I sir, will never forget.

I did not know Captain McCurley personally, however I have come to know his wife, she is my teacher. I have learned through Donna that Chris must have been a truly amazing man. I have also learned that he touched and helped many people. It is a shame that he was taken in the way he was, but at least we know he is in heaven lwatching over you always. He may have been taken from his family and friends, but he will always live in on their hearts. I know that all of you were truly blessed to know him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Well Chris, it has been ten years, but seems like only yesterday. I will never forget the day I got the message. I was at work and had walked to the store to get a drink. When I returned to the office, Terry (husband) and Anthony (my son) were there. I never dreamed in a million years the news they had for me. I could not believe it. I was more than heartbroken. We never seemed to say those three magic words I LOVE YOU. I guess we just knew it. It would be so good if you were here so I could tell you now - I LOVE YOU. I miss you every day and I think of you always. You were the greatest. There will never be another one like you. I just wish you were still here. I would love to hear you play the guitar, banjo and piano like you always did. Remember the talent shows at school you won, wearing the cowboy shirt Mama had embroidered for you. I believe you came in first in every one you entered. Just wanted to say to you that I miss you and I Love You.

A decade has passed since your EOW and I know for some it seems like yesterday but for others it has felt like a lifetime since they were able to feel your touch, see your smile and hear your voice. There are not words I can say to comfort your loved ones as I know they still grieve your loss and always will except that you are a true hero and heroes never die. Keep watch over your loved ones and continue to visit them in their dreams to let them know you are near and watching over them. You have not been forgotten.
