Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Lloyd Edward Lowry

Two very brave and courageous men who entered the unknown on that day have given their lives for their community. May the memory of your service, heroism and sacrifice remain forever. We are proud of you and thankful for all of your service. May God bless you and your family.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

...Gone, but never Forgotten....

GOD bless you and your family, Sergeant Lowry. Rest in peace, sir. I've been by that spot on I-95 a number of times in my travels and always look, think of your service and sacrifice, and say a prayer for you, your friends, and family as I pass.

POLK County Sheriff's Office, Florida

Sergeant Lowry was my supervisor for several years while he was stationed in Greensboro, NC. He was one of the finest men I have ever known. Every Christmas he hand made a gift for each of his men. I display them proudly in my home to this day. Many of the things I do as a supervisor I pattern after Sergeant Lowry. He loved his men and we knew it. Rest in peace my friend, one day we will meet again.

On angels ...

"The wings ain't anything but a uniform that's all. When they are in the field so to speak, they always wear them."

OCCASIONALLY,WE ARE GRAVED WITH THE PRESENCE OF AN EARH BOUND ANGEL. THEY ARE UNABLE TO STAY WITH US FOR LONG, BUT WHILE THEY DO, THEY BRING UNPRECEDENTED JOY AND HAPPINESS TO ALL THEY TOUCH. WHILE THEY ARE HERE, WE BASK IN THEIR GOODNESS AND MARVEL AT THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD. WHEN THEY LEAVE,WE ARE LEFT WITH THE DEVISTATION THAT COMES WITH LOSING SUCH A WONDERFUL BEING..BUT WE MUST REMEMBER..THE EARTH BOUND ANGELS ARE NOT OURS TO KEEP,THEY ARE OURS TO ENJOY, LEARN FROM, AND BEHOLD UNTIL THEY RETURN HOME.

Deputy Sheriff
Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office

Ed Lowry was more than just a man. He was a friend, a Daddy, a husband, and a mentor. He was like a father to many of us especially me. It was truly a sad day when he was taken from us in such a wasteful and hatred manner. Ed will live forever in the minds of those who knew him best. We will always love you Ed!

Trooper T.I. Baldwin
North Carolina Highway Patrol

Ed, You were always a my friend, my teacher, my partner. We think of you daily, and will always remember you. You did make a difference and we'll never forget it. I've always been told "Live, so that when you are gone, it will have mattered!" Well, it mattered.

Trooper C.L. Pridgen
North Carolina Highway Patrol

Ed,

I know that you are above us, watching over us.
God bless you for all you have done for us. We love you and WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.

Trooper C. S. Taylor
North Carolina State Highway Patrol

I knew Ed Lowery from the Training Center when I was a trooper many years ago. What a fine and decent family man, an exemplary officer.

The Old North State lost one of its finest when he was so senselessly killed. What a tragedy for him and for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

He now patrols the streets of Heaven with St. Michael. God Bless and be safe.

Chief JA Millan
NC Public Schools Law Enforcement, Avery Dist.

THE DAY WE LOST YOU AND DEPUTY HATHCOCK WAS INDEED A SAD DAY. MAY GOD BLESS YOUR WONDERFUL WIFE AND CHILDREN.

SPO J ANTHONY
WILSON POLICE DEPT

I attended the Southern Police Institute with Ed Lowry for 3 months. We became great friends and had a lot of fun. Ed was a terrific trooper and loved the Highway Patrol. He was a warrior defending our North Carolina citizens and will never be forgotten!!

Captain Gary Hastings
Greensboro Police Department

Your story has inspired me and changed my life. I remember the day when I heard. Not knowing you personally, I still felt that burning pain every trooper and peace officer felt that day. I was later a cadet in the basic patrol school and actually felt your presence from above. You were part of a great organization and family of troopers. You are still remembered there and always will be. You dedicated your life to something that you believed in. God has a special place for troopers and I know He called you home to patrol the streets of heaven.
