To the family of Deputy York, you are in my thoughts and my prayers. You died about the time Josh decided he was going to be a police officer. I remember how glad that I was that he chose to stay in Montana to follow his avocation. Nothing happens in small town. Six years later Josh died doing the job he loved.....
Its almost your eighth birthday in heaven. Your family and coworkers will remain in my prayers.

Seven years ago this date Deputy Shayne Daniel York lost his life in a senseless act of violence. Despite his brief career he is remebered for his service to his country and community. All of our shifts today are dedicated to the memory of our brother hoping that in some small way in our rememberence some peace might be brought to those who knew and loved him.

Shayne will never be forgotten. Although I never new him, his story has touched my heart. This incident also struck a cord with my husbands heart as he had a newspaper article of Shayne in his locker at work (Boise P.D.). Who knew at the time that just 1 month later, Marks name would join Shaynes. They will forever be heros. Mark had worked for and loved the people that he worked with in the LASD. God bless you and your loved ones Shayne as this is a pain that will never go away. You will forever be missed.

Thank you, Shane. You have given your life just because of the profession you chose. You were needlessly slain only for who you are.
God Bless you and your family

Although I never knew Shayne, I work now where he once did. I continue to walk where he did. His memory lives on and he has never been forgotten. It is required by every new Deputy to learn who Shayne was and how he lost his life. In this way, he will always be a part of us.
Rest in peace, Shayne.
