Reflections for Police Officer Eryk Todd Heck
On behalf of the Tampa police Department, we send our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of this brave Officer. Your actions on that day were both admirable and inspirational.
I had the oppurtunity to meet your mother at the Police Memorial in Tampa on May 11. She is extremely proud of you as I'm sure you know. Here face lit up when she was speaking of you. She is a special lady, her work with C.O.P.S is and will help families with the pain that she experienced on that tragic day. The shock of the incident is still with her but she seems to use that energy to help others. I thank her for that!
To your family and especially your daughter, please know that your son, husband, father is with you always and he will continue looking out for you from above. Officer Heck I recently lost a friend, Det. Kieth Dressl of the Toledo Police Department. Would say hello to my frined for me, I'm sure the two of you would hit it off, he has a personality like no other.
Thank you for your bravery and service. You are a HERO which will never be forgotten. I ask you to continue looking out for your "Bothers/Sisters", after all you proved that your the BEST partner one could ask for! God Bless.

Eryk - You must be listening. Det. Mike Lee and I were just talking about your heroic act last week and today I was going to log onto this website to check reflections for a friend killed in 1986 and I see where Mike left you a reflection. You truely are a hero to us all. God Bless your family and fellow officers from Allen County Sheriff's Department. You will never be forgotten and thanks for thinking of us.

Dear Officer Heck,
Although we didn't know you while you served the citizens of our county, since your death on that tragic night your family has fought and succeeded to keep your memory alive in many ways.
We, along with our other Board Members (4 police officers and a firefighter) have fought too so that the memory of our "fallen officers and firefighters" will stand tall in the minds of the citizens whom you served so valiantly. With the help of hundreds of police officers, firefighters, citizens as well as the City and County, we have succeeded. The ground-breaking for the new Police/Fire Memorial was held on November 1, 2006.
Please accept this "tribute" not as a gift but rather a "Thank You" for your unselfish service and dedication to the citizens of our community and please know that your family will always be in our hearts and thoughts as the years pass.
"AT PEACE WITH PRIDE"

Eryk,
I wasn't aware of this web site before, but I took the time to review and Allen Couny was the first site I visited. I wanted to leave a note for you and your family, because your family is my family. Hard to believe growing up with you and your sisters' that our paths could cross so many times. I feel that you and I did't choose our career path, it choose us. Your always missed but never forgotten. God Bless Taylor and Deb.....

Taylor turned 10 not too many days ago. She is such a nice little girl. I know she misses you and what could have been but she is very happy and so is Deb. And I know you would want that for them. I miss you so much some times!!! It is so wonderful to have Taylor so a part of you is still here with us. I know you are so proud of her. We sure are. Knowing we will see you again in heaven helps to get us through the days but I sure wish I could talk to you one more time before then. I love you...Shel'

To the family and loved ones of Officer Eryk Todd Heck and his fellow officers with the Allen County Sheriff's Department:
On this the ninth anniversary of Eryk's tragic death, I wanted to honor and remember him today. In reading the loving reflections left by loved ones and friends, it is obvious Eryk was an amazing man who is so loved and missed by so many. Eryk's valor and courage will never be forgotten.
I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.
I am so sorry that Eryk was robbed of his life so young and so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Eryk gave to his community and the citizens of Indiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 15, 1997.

TO THE FAMILY OF OFFICER HECK:
REMMEBERING HIM TODAY ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH AND ALSO REMEMBERING HIS FAMILY WHO I KNOW MISS HIM SO MUCH. THAT FEELING NEVER GOES AWAY. THERE IS ALWAYS A VOID WHERE HE SHOULD BE.
WE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THESE THINGS HAPPEN ESPECIALLY TO ONE WHO DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO HELPING OTHERS, BUT WE HAVE TO TRUST THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE MADE RIGHT ONE DAY.
GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY HE KEEP YOU IN HIS CARE.

As I read through the reflections of my brother's E.O.W. I came across your name. I felt compelled to come here and to read all the messeges left here.
I truly know that Eryk and my brother are heroes and are watching over us all. I truly admire Eryk, byputting himself in harms way for his fellow officer. My eyes shed tears for you and your family and I ask myself the same question, "Will and does time heal this wound? I pray and have faith that it will for all of us! Thank you for all your kind words about my brother. It is good to know that you and your family are alot alike our family with love, kindness and bravery. God's blessings to you!
