I miss you Dad...Always on my mind and in my heart day and night. The memories I have of you I keep close to my heart. When I think of heros your name is the only one that comes to my mind. It feels my heart with such pride and joy when I tell my children (your grandkids) stories of you. The person you were loving sweet kind thoughtful to everyone you met. I try to follow in your footsteps sometimes I have my moments but I think of what you would do and what you would have wanted. I hope you qre proud of the person ive become. You make me a better person each and every day. I love you and miss you so much....one day we shall return to each other lives once more and picked up right where we left off. I love you forever and always...

Sorry this is so late:
To my Cousin Wayne, even though I did not see much of you when we moved to Cali, I remember you and or your brother as little kids running around or sitting around with Grandpa Max and Grandma Phyllis at their home. As I was much older than you, all my (you) little cousins looked alike, probably the Martinez in us. I did see your Mom and Dad in you too. I was proud of you serving as a Corporal for DOC in Wyoming and it still breaks our hearts when it gets close to your birthday. Your are always in my mother and fathers prayers. As a US Marine our Motto is "Semper Fidelis = Always Faithful" So to you my cousin I say Semper Fi. When I do get to Rawlins I stop by the memorial they have for you and think of you running around as a kid still. Take care and god bless.

I think of you and that terrible day from time to time, as I am on this day. You were always good to us. I hope you are at peace and that your family is also in a good place in life.

Lord, when it’s time to go inside,
That place of steel and stone.
I pray that you will keep me safe,
So I won’t walk alone.
Help me to do my duty,
Please watch me on my rounds.
Amongst those perilous places
And slamming steel door sounds.
God, Keep my fellow Officers
Well and free from harm.
Let them know I’ll be there too,
Whenever there’s alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat,
No matter where I roam.
Let me go back whence I came,
To family and home.
RIP We have the watch now

I had the opportunity to work with Wayne from 1995 until his passing. He was always smiling and I always saw him during shift change (he was on 1st Shift, I was on 2nd). I had the chance to briefly talk to him the day before he died. He told me about his girls excitement about going to Disneyland on that Saturday. He also said he was looking forward to the "rest" and vacation. That was a sad day in Rawlins and for all of the Correctional Officers at the Penitentiary at that time.

I knew Wayne Martinez from the time we were 10 years old until his death and we spent 5 years working together daily. Wayne was a good officer and had the ability to handle stressful situations but remain upbeat at the same time. He always encouraged me to stick with the job and we leaned on each other during a great friendship and mutual respect. I often have dreams of working with him and the funny sayings he always had, that is what sticks with me and makes me smile. The day we lost him changed me and many others forever. RIP Big W!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 15th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Dad, you will never be forgotten. Theres not a day that passes that I dont remember you. For the little time I had with you, youve tought me so much. The stories and memories people share cant compare to the memories that I had with you when I was little. I only wish that you could see your grand-children. You and grandma will forever be in my heart and your courage will never be forgotten. I love you and I will never forget you.
