Brent Lumley I knew you as a respected officer and father. I can't believe it's been 15 years since I heard this on the news. I was the babysitter for your son-Blake. I had attended your funeral and it was quite large and respectful and of course in honor of all of the good that you do for people.
Im sitting here today writing my first paper for a criminal justice class and your are one of my examples for gratittude and courage.
GOD BLESS YOU!!

Ahh, BB. You are thought about often and missed always and I still remember the devils name that took you from us. I truly believe God had a hand on me the day you were killed. I was absent that day- had I been there - I would never have retur.ned to PV. I remember the next work day and the inmates on the ground with the searches and Officer L**m stating " They took our BB"
I was happy to see big Al's name ( happy to see he is with the Avondale police department)....I can still see you together working and laughing.
Just found this site and wish to say you were a hell of a man. The one thing that I can say impressed me the first time I met you was your love for your family and devotion to your wife & job. It made me enjoy teasing you. I miss you Officer Lumley, you were taken too soon. You were a great Officer.

Just reflecting on my Correctional Officers calender last March 7 and seeing your name there on this date. All this time I still remember filling in for the normal Kitchen 25 officer that day and talking with you. The years have flown by but I will never forget you nor shall the other C.O.'s that worked with you. I am still left empty everytime I think of that day.

It’s now going on thirteen years since Big Brent made the ultimate sacrifice. I personally will never forget the good times we had talking about some of the craziest stories we had along the way. Man I miss you brother. I often wonder where we would be at this point in this game called life.... I often wonder. Brent, I want to thank you for everything you showed me both on and off duty just shooting the stuff. Thanks for always being there. Thanks for being the best friend a guy could ever have. Till we see each other again brother, rest in peace.. your partner, your pal, your brother AL... GOOOOOO REDSKINS.....

Made it to the National Law Enforcement Memorial the other day. Seeing your name on there brought back memories. I had great respect for you as an officer. Everyday when you brought 396 through North Gate, you always gave us a hand. A lot of guys tried to drag their feet and find excuses to not help out. I could always count on you to get in there and lend a hand. Rest in peace brother. You will not be forgotten.

I think of you often and wonder what you would be doing now. Your laugh and some of your crazy jokes still linger in my memories. I know you are in a wonderful place and how happy you must be watching over your son. You are gone but will never be forgotten friend.

This month marks 12 years since Brent's ultimate sacrifice. He is remembered everyday in our family. Brent is surley looking down from his heavenly home beaming with pride in how well Blake is doing. Blake has many memories of his father and is living his life to honor him. I am so proud of him as well. Thank you Brent for our Son!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 12th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

I did not know Officer Lumley but I know of his service. Those that were honored to have served with him speak of a special man. And though I did not have the priviledge of knowing him, his legacy inspires me to be better. I thank him for his service and sacrifice. And to his family, know he will never be forgotten.

You know Brent, it seems like yesterday you and the guys would come by every morning at 0430 to check out your weapons and equipment before heading out on the crew. I'll remember you always.

Brent, I often think back to the days in COTA, and dig out the photo of us taken after being gassed. Im still in disbelief that the friend holding only my shoulder in that picture is gone, at the hands of cowards. Its a shame the rest of the conspirators were not held accountable, but I would bet that their conscience gets to them at times and would go as far to say some have probably visited this memorial for you.

Im now putting guys in prison instead of watching them arrive, and the lesson learned in your death helps to keep me on my toes. I also think of Blake and wonder how he is doing, hopefully all is well.

Your sacrifice was not in vien. The ADOC subsequently allowed us to carry OC Spray on the units. I attended your funeral and rode in the motorcade. It went on for at least two miles. You are well remembered. May God bless and keep your family. (Former ADC COII #4514 ASPC-PHX and COCC 1992-2000)
