I only knew you for two years before you died, but I always considered you a good friend.  We joked around and laughed a lot and miss the fun we had.  There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about you.  I miss you, Mike.  Rest in peace.

Officer Heath Montag
Upper Arlington Police Division

Officer Patrick Matlock
Brookville Police Dept

You died while serving and protecting the community where those in need depended on you. You are a hero. There is a bed in heaven for all officers who have gave the ultimate sacrifice. Rest there in peace my brother.

Patrolman Brian T. Lakin
Harvard University Police

Michael - I only knew you for a few short years, however, it was easy to see you were a police officer's police officer.

Periodically, I enter your station and it is evident that you are no longer there except in spirit of the men and women who continue to serve. You have left a great void in our law enforcement community and the community at large.
We Miss You.

Lieutenant Michael Brining
Upper Arlington Division of Police

"I am the Officer"

I have been where you fear to be,

I have seen what you fear to see,

I have done what you fear to do -

All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon,

The one you bring your troubles to -

All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart,

The one you feel should have no heart,

The one you call "The Officer in Blue,"

But I'm just a person, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see,

That I am not always what you ask of me;

So take this badge....take this gun...

Will you take it..... will anyone?

And when you watch a person die

And hear a battered baby cry,

Then do you think that you can be

All these things you ask of me?

Officer George D. Spence
Ohio State University Police Department

I'll Always Love You

It seems like a lifetime ago

The time has gone so fast,

Crying, remembering, wondering

How long will this pain last.

It's like a dream, I can't wake up

A nightmare that won't go away,

With no control someone took you from us

There was so much left to say.

I guess you could say it's denial

I still can't believe that it's true,

One day you're here and making us laugh

The next we're all missing you.

They say that time will heal the pain

But I don't believe that it does,

Missing you hopelessly day and night

Wanting it the way that it was.

We don't know why it happened

Somethings we can't explain,

Everything happens for a reason, they say

But that doesn't ease the pain.

God promises we'll be together again

If we believe in our hearts it's true,

But until the day we can reunite

Remember I'll always love you.

Your daughter,

Dianne

I knew Mike well, as I worked with
him for a couple of years, after
he started with the Sheriff's office
in Franklin County. Mike was the kind
of guy who you could talk with, and
he would listen, no matter if you
were in need of someone to discuss a
personal problem or pass on a joke.
Mike was unique and I miss him, and
wish I could of had a chance to talk
with him one more time. I know when
my time comes, and God call's me home
I will have a friend in heaven waiting
to welcome me. God bless the family
of officer Blankenship.

A Part of America Died Today

Somebody killed a policeman today,

and a part of America died.

A piece of our country he swore to protect,

will be buried with him at his side.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,

with counsel demanding his rights.

While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,

and spend many long, lonely nights.

The beat that he walked was a battle field too,

just as if he'd gone off to war.

Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,

to his name they will add a gold star.

Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,

in your town or mine.

While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,

a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,

and he stands at each new rookie's side.

He answered the call, of himself gave his all,

A Part of America Died Today.

God bless you Mike.. I LOVE YOU MAN!
