Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Reuben Fred Rios, Sr.

Reuben: I didn't know HOW to operate a computer when you were taken from us. Now that I've found this website, (because of yet another deuce taking a CHP from us) I feel liberated to write about what a fine man and officer you were and what a fine man and officer Junior has become. You must be proud of him as we all are. Please make David Romero and John Bailey feel welcome. They were our best, just like you. I had always hoped you would be the last, but you know how it goes. I hope I'm good enough to join you all when it's my time to go 10-10.

To Officer Rueben Rios Sr., his family and friends, and his fellow officers:

On this the ninth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your valor and bravery are remembered.

I read that your own son has followed in your footsteps and is in law enforcment. You must be very proud.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the many years of distinquished service to your community and the citizens of California, and the supreme sacrifice you and your family made on October 26, 1996.

Hey Reuben,

I carry a picture of your gravemarker in my "33 book" everyday. Whenever I arrest a drunk driver, I think of you and the ultimate sacrafice you made. If I get a drunk and they complain about not doing anything wrong, and they're not a criminal, I show them the picture. It usually shuts them up. You are not forgotten Reuben. Your son is doing fine as an officer in the San Bernardino Area.
