To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Lindsey, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

I will always love you. I look at the pictures of us and you were so young, now I see this picture of you all grown up and I miss you. I miss the times we will never have together. I cry for my big brother who no longer has his son. I saw my dad cry for the first time, when he said good bye to you. Rest in peace my precious nephew

I remember the night you died so well. It is forever etched in my mind and the minds thousands of Holmes County citizens. I remember at a special memorial service at the one year aniversary of your death, your son said, "everytime I go outside, I rembmer my daddy."
I'll never forget!

Just a few words to honor a dedicated and heroic Florida deputy sheriff, Lonny L. Lindsey. GOD bless you, your family, and fellow co-workers then and now in Holmes County. Rest in eternal peace, deputy Lindsey, until we too cross over and rest with you in Glory!

Lonnie,
Your gone but not forgotten, I listen to the tape of that night at least once a year, normally around the time it happened. It helps me keep my perspective and keep in mind that at times there is absolutely nothing you can do to make things happen differently. Everyone can do everything right and it can still come out wrong. Your still helping a lot of people.

Lonny, I never knew you personally but I've come to know you through all the friends you left here at the department. Your name is mentioned on a daily basis. Your radio ID# is still 51-9. You will always be a member of this agency. I had the honor of meeting and sitting with your mother on a screening board two days ago to give out an award in your honor. I learned even more about you. We have a very intensive trainng program here now so hopefully we can prevent any of our Deputies from being injured or killed. I've studied the incident in which you were taken from us and what I've discovered shocked me. You put up a very brave and heroic effort during the gun battle with the two heavily armed suspects scoring a number of hits on both. BOth should have been killed. Why they were not only GOD can answer. Your tactics were great. You did everything right. I guess the saying "when it's your time to die, you will" is true. It's so sad it was your time. You're still a Deputy Sheriff of Holmes County and your legacy lives on. It is said of a lot of officers when they die that they were heros. We know that's not really true. But in your case, YOU, Lonny Lindsey, died a true hero and remain one today at this department. Until we meet in person... Eddie Ingram

Deputy Lindsey made the ultimate sacrifice while I was halfway through the academy. Several of his fellow deputies were classmates. His death has continued to have a great impact on me through my career. I think of the day I learned of his passing often while on patrol and believe that has kept me alive a number of times. Thank you Deputy Lindsey for all you have done for me, my family and others. God bless you.

Not forgotten. You were so dedicated. Rest in peace.

WELL LONNY I CAN NOT BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW YOUR DEATH HAS AFFECTED ME. I WAS THE FIRST OFFICER TO GET TO YOUR SIDE AND THE LAST TO LEAVE. I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THE PEOPLE WHO DONE THIS TO YOU HAVE BOTH BEEN CONVICTED AND SENTECED TO LIFE W/NO PAROLE. LONNY YOUR DEATH IS A CONSTANT REMINDER TO ME AND HAS MADE ME A MUCH BETTER POLICE OFFICER. I MISS OUR TALKS AT THE STATE LINE, BUT LIFE GOES ON. SLEEP WELL LONNY FOR I HAVE TAKEN OVER THE BATTLE ON YOUR BEHALF.
