Reflections for Special Agent Duane R. Christian

Duane,

I often think of you and how much your friendship meant to me. I remember the days when we both work for OPM before you move to Commerce. Always a man of character and wisdom. Rest in Power my brother.

Duane, You are never forgotten and we will always remember you and honor your memory. You have been gone for 27 years now and this day never gets easier. I visited you and your son Marc near you today. Rest easy my brother. I retired at the end of 2022 and I reflect that I owe a lot of my career success to your mentorship in those early years. Thank you my friend. Tomorrow on April 3rd you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers constantly along with the rest of the commerce crew who perish that day.

Duane,

It is hard to believe you were taken from us 26 years ago. I still remember that day as if it were today.

Know that you are loved and respected by those of us who knew and served beside you.
We all benefitted by your guidance.

I see that Joe Burns once again visited with you. Even though I am miles away, you will always be in my thoughts. The picture of you that has been on my desk while on the job has a new home on my desk at home. It will remain there until we meet again.

You are truly missed.

Duane, They had a 20 year remembrance on 4-5-16 at Main Commerce. There were five former OSY agents there to remember you and Secretary Brown and that fateful day of 4-3-96.

You were a husband, brother, dad, and good friend. We are left to reflect 20 years later on what your life might have been like if that day had not happened. I honor your memory and your ultimate sacrifice made in service to your country. Rest in peace my brother until we meet again...and know that you are loved and missed.

Special Agent Christian, the anniversary of your tragic death is approaching and I want to say thank you for your service to this nation.

It is always so touching to see reflections left by family and friends and it reinforces the belief that, so long as you are kept in heart and mind, you're never truly gone. It is also apparent that you were much loved and admired.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

Duane you always had a special place to me, not just a brother in law but as a true brother, friend. I loved our conversations and when I make devil eggs even now I think of you. There is not a time something won't remind me of you. I miss your smile and your laughter so much. Thank you God for allowing him in my life and the life of my children. Peace.
