Here was a great man that knew how to have fun. He lived a very fruitful life. He was a man of high esteem with so much grace, you could not help but smile and be happy to see him. There was none like him. To know him as a person was a blessing. To hold him in our hearts is a blessing.
He was a father, a brother and he was a true friend when in need. His name is Hoskie Allen Gene Jr. and no words will ever paint who he really was.

Hi Dad,
It's been twelve long years and not a day goes by that we don't think about you. Whether we are crying tears of sadness, remembering your smile and your laughter, or maybe it was just something you said that stuck with us, you are always and forever will be in our hearts. This day every year is hardest on everyone. We all carry a part of you with us just as a part of each of us has gone with you.
Dad, I love you and I miss you so much.

You are always remembered! You are always in our hearts and memories. Not only were you a great police officer, but you were a compassionate and loving son, brother, and father. You were always there to support us in whatever paths we chose and you were proud of us no matter what. I miss you, but I know I shall one day hear your laughter again.
Rest in Peace, Sonny.
Love always, Bea

An elderly Navajo grandma once shared, "Do not grieve for me when I am gone, I may be the blue bird that flies by or a horse that walks up to you. So know that I will always look in on you." Your family should take comfort in old teachings. You touched many lives and shared laughs with many more.

A decade has passed and I know your loved ones think of you every day. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten by those who love you and the Blue Family will never forget you. Visit your loved ones in their dreams, let them be in vivid color with a warm feeling so they know you love them and are still watching over them. Keep a special watch on those friends still out on patrol carrying on the protection of the Thin Blue Line. Heroes never die and your memory will live on and you are a true hero.

I asked a Medicine Man why you had to go
And he said, “He’s not gone. He’s still here among us.
Look for his presence in the rainbows,
In the early morning ground fogs,
In the desert slow rainy days”.
“Listen and you will hear his footsteps
In the first dawn lights,
In the last lights before night fall,
In the moon light beam colors”.
“Listen and you hear his laughter
In the new officer’s first day out,
In the officers teaching the new people,
In the officer’s caring and sharing road experiences”.
The Medicine Man said, “He’s not gone. He’s still here.
He is only gone if he is not in your hearts,
Your thoughts and your prayers.
He is part of you, you welcomed him as such”.

I love and miss you dearly, Son. You served your people well. I think of you everyday; You are still "alive" in my heart. I cherish every memory of you from the day you were born and often wonder how you would look today. You will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace...
Love, Mom

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Today, January 6, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Sergeant Hoskie Allen Gene who died in the line of duty on this date nine years ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Sgt. Gene’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.
