I currently live on the property where the perpetrator was lynched, just across the street from where Mr. Jones was shot, so I think about him often. I visited his grave today to pay my respects.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Deputy Jones, you have been gone, these many years, but you have not been forgotten. Many may remember the s/c bandit and fewer still have learned from his mistake(s); you cannot take the life of a law enforcement official, without having to pay the consequences.
