Dear Vincent, When I was just a child growing up in Brooklyn, I went to school and became friends with your son, Wayne. Although we never met, I know how much of a legacy you have left in this world by your service and through your family, even though they endured devastating pain and suffering. At that time, I could feel it, too, and remember how difficult it was for your wife and children, and even though we were very young, it made an impression on me, as well. I think that knowing your son and all that had happened, may have influenced me in some way to become a Police Officer, too. Now, all these years later, as we look to reconcile our lives, we have the consolation of having been good people, as I'm sure that you were among the best of all humanity and your family sees the world through their Fathers' eyes. God Bless

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.

Vincent,
Today I had the opportunity to meet your son, a fine and respectable man. He spoke of you with pride that would be difficult to describe. He took his wallet out and showed me your NYPD picture and a small NYPD shield with your number.
You would be so proud of him. I liked him immediately, then a little later, learned about you.
Vincent, thank you . . . thank you for you service, dedication and for protecting the citizens of New York City, State of New York and our country. Thank you for daring to walk the path of the warrior, which you are. I honor you, your name, your dedication, but mostly for the ultimate sacrifice you made protecting us all. You rest easy Vincent, your work is done here . . . the NYPD will cover your post on our thin blue line, but nobody will, or can ever take your place. You rest easy brother. Patrol those streets of gold and continue to watch over your brother and sister officers.
In the words of Walter Payton, number 34, the great NFL running back for the Chicago Bears . . "You're not gone until you're forgotten." We will never forgot you!
With brotherly love and utmost respect, Jim Crotty (former Richmond, VA Police Officer.)
