Reflections for Officer Mark H. Zelewski
Officer Zelewski,
On today, the 60th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Air Force. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Mark (Zeke as we called him in the Air Force) was a stellar individual. Mark was kind, generous, honest and the best friend I have ever had. His death saddens and angers me even today January 2021. Mark and I were in the 2nd Air Force together stationed at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base in 1959, 60, 61 and 62. I was younger than Mark. After we became acquainted he tucked me under his Wing and looked out for me during my entire enlistment, I cherish those days. My hope is that those Cowards responsible for his Death were punished to the full extent of the Law. My condolences to his Wife Voncille, his Parents and all those lives he touched with his gentle and understanding hands during his time on this earth. RIP Zeke, I have missed you for years.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I pray for the solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your friend for sharing hia devotion to you through his reflection.

I went through the OCPD recruit school with Mark and we and our wives became friends. Mark and I were partners from soon after finishing recruit school until a few weeks before his death. Mark was an intelligent and highly capable person. He had a charming sense of humor and was very likable. He was an excellent officer and served the community well. He would have gone far in his career.Mark was a positive influence in the lives of those who knew him.

Everyone needs a Reflection. This is the date of your death. [7-27-04] Law Enforcement has changed over the years, except the fact that people are still trying to kill us. God Bless.
