Officer Young, it has been 56 years since you were taken from us. I hope that your daughter Sandy, grandaughter and other family members have gotten some solace and comfort knowing their grief is felt by all of us who wear and have worn the badge. As long as they remember and tell those following you will stay with us.
New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your law enforcement service.

Can't believe this was 55 years ago.i was almost 11,Sgt Pepper was released and Brian Epstein died on the 27th. Iwas 10 and I remember the funeral and the sadness and hanging out with Sandy after and riding bikes up to her friends near the bridge, trying to act normal.

Dad- there isn't a day that doesn't go by that I don't think about that horiffic night. Every part ,from begining to end runs through my mind and I brake down and end up crying myself to sleep. Just as if I were 11 years old, again. I'm almost 59 yrs.old. Your B.D. is Jan.1 and then on the 3rd. is mine. You were a New Year's baby.
I wish someone could know how painful life has been for me and well, for mom-she just always wanted to die. finally she did. I hope she is with you. I cant speak for the other kids because they were older but I am sure it affected them some how. I know it did Frank, terribly. We became so lost without you. You were the true meaning of a Father! A friend! You were each of our anchors. After that night-, we just floated where ever each wave would take us.Life ceased to exist for me. Something inside of me truely died. My faith in Jesus hyas kept me going and I know ,someday-,I will see you, again.xo

I too was 11 years old that summer and recall the sad news of what happened, just 1/2 mile from our home. Rather than a brief line, the explanation of what transpired should be added to his page. Officer Young was a brave man who went where few would dare. I believe his story should be told.
God bless his family.

Officer Young,
You were killed on the day I was born. One police officer came into the world and one left.
