Your heroism and service is honored today, the 77th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

John Wooton was my grandfather. He died in the line of duty, shot by a drunk for no apparent reason. In the true spirit of serve and protect he returned fire before dying and fatally wounded the assailant. My mother was 4 when her daddy was taken from her. I'll never meet my grandfather. All because of alcohol-impaired judgement and a lack of respect for life. Celebrate your time now in heaven - I'll get to meet you there one day.
