I can’t believe it’s been over 30 yrs. it’s been hard on all of us. Mom never got over it all. There were times I wish I could talk to you about things at work. I spent 26 out of my 33 yrs at Vnys div. 5 of those at Vnys front desk. I knew filling out those F.I cards when we were little would finally work to my advantage. Thank you for teaching the love of earthquakes and they worked, also the love of animals. I still have the tortoises and a few of their off spring. I’ll be retiring soon and think of you and mom often. P.s thank you Jimmy T and Steve H for checking in on us.

Dad,
Is been many years but I still cry like it was yesterday. I miss you so much. In school they ask the students to write a bout your hero. I always hated it. After your passing, I never realized that YOU were my hero. I always thought you could do no wrong in my eyes and I never told you that. You had died before my son was 2 yrs old and I was told that when you & my mom babysat my son, he had fallen asleep in your arms. Instead of putting him down, you held him until he woke up again, even though your arms were killing you. I’m so glad that you touched his life even though he was too young to remember. I have always talked about you & had pictures of you. My son in his late teens one day said, “mom, your dad is on TV”. I was like your mistaken but you were! There was a special 30 minute show I think called “True Detective? It talked about the story of what happen to you and Arleigh that day. I tried to get a copy of the show and contact one of his old partners to see if I can get a copy. Very sad but I never heard from either one. Anyway, I was so surprised that my son recognized you from a picture. I think I did well in keeping you in his thoughts.
You will always be loved & missed.

Ron, you responded to our call for help and paid the ultimate sacrafice. I still remember that fateful day vividly, and the scout uniform you wore, upon your arrival, when you responded from a family/scout function.
It's hard to believe that it's been 26 years since you and Arleigh were taken from us. You are missed and thought of often.

Ron,
We ran Track at Monroe Hig. We were friends for years, through your Coast Guard duty and my Air Force service. Our wives were friends. Words cannot say how hard it was for me to carry you twenty-three years ago... nor can they express the certain knowledge I have that we will one day meet again. I miss you, my best friend. And I will never forget the times we went surplus store hopping on day long motorcycle trips. Rest well...

The first time that I had heard of Ron was back in the early 1980's, when He responded to a bomb left at the residence of a L. A. City Council Member. Ron was able to deactivate the bomb with less than twenty seconds left on the bomb's timer.
Of course later, I got to know more about Ron and Arleigh, and I know of no other LAPD Funeral where there were more U. S. Military Personnel in - attendance, than Theirs.........
