It was 2 days after my eighth birthday that my Uncle Tom was killed while directing traffic at Convention Hall. I remember his funeral with the honor guard of police officers lined up outside my grandmother's house on Huntingdon street. For many years I kept a punching bag that I had received for Christmas that he had blown up. He was 41 at the time of his death and his birthday was June 18, 1900.
