I am touched by the reflections submitted to my husbands Memorial Page. We thank you for you heartfelt words of comfort, and your appreciation of his service to the community. My son and I are well, and though the loss of a father and husband will never be forgotten, it has eased with time. May God bless you and keep you in His loving care.

Officer Willis, affectionately known as Preston, was my father. I was only 6 weeks old when he was killed so I never knew him. Everything I've learned about his life has been expressed to me by my mother Patricia, who often reflects on how much I remind her of him. Althoguh I will never know how my fathers existence in my life would have impacted my own, I am so thankful to know that I am a part of him. My mother and I are extremely moved by your thoughts and prayers and we are so very greatful to know that his death has touched so many lives. Thank you for this memorium that has been created to carry on his legacy and the legacies of his fellow officers.

"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Willis, we have the watch...

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah 6:8

You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!

In loving memory of P.O. Marcus
Willis: What a nice name! Marcus is the name of my 8 month old grandson! What a tragedy to read about this freak accident that cost you your life. I can imagine the pain this caused the other officer. I was a junior in high school when this happened so alot of time has passed since then. We are remembering you fondly this day and hope that your family, both in and out of law enforcement still appreciates
your sacrifice. May their fond memories of you continue to bless them today. From one coast of America to the other

To the family of Officer Marcus P. Willis,

I certainly hope that time has healed the wounds that this unfortunate incident must have caused.

Even though I wasn't born at the time of his death, reading about his loss today made me feel for your loss, and enriched my desire to serve as the best police officer I can be, in HIS honor.

I know no words can ever be said to convey one's sympathy in a manner befitting a situation like this, but I assure you if the words could be strung together, I would pass them on to you.
