His wife Alcie Clemtine Durance Williams 1848-1875 who was suffering from TB died the day after Marshall williams. They left 3 orphans Myrtice, Alice and James. The girls were raised by their uncle and aunt Nathan K. Williams (Marshall Williams brother) and Celia Durrance Williams ( Alice Durrance Williams sister). Two brothers had married two Durrance sisters.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 136th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
