Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Burtice W. Wickstrum
I will do an update to my reflection of my grandfather; Deputy Sheriff Burtice W. Wickstrum. Last I had checked in was 2006. Lots has happened with me in my L.E. career and January, 2024, I did finally retire at age 75 with accomplishing 50 years as a L.E. Officer. Grandfather, I hope I made you proud. My whole life has been serving, including my time in the U.S. Marine Corp and time spent in Vietnam. Grandfather I had some BIG shoes to fill and now I look forward to our meeting someday when I make my arrival to claim the mansion that God has prepared for me.

He was the brother of my Grandfather, Royal K Wickstrum. I have served for 34.5 years with Phoenix Police and now also retired.
It's very interesting that the grandson of deputy Sheriff, also became a long time police officer.

He would have been my grand uncle.

Grandfather died in Jan. 1951 working for Maricopa County, AZ after retiring from the Denver, CO police department. I was born in 1948 and never knew my Grandfather. Years ago I spoke with persons who worked with grandpa and was told that my grandfather was a great police officer and good man. As I prepare for retirement after 35 years as a law enforcement, I can only hope that I made Grandpa proud as I followed in his footsteps and carried on the mission that he dedicated his life to. Your Loving Grandson, David
