Your heroism and service is honored today, the 116th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Rest In Peace

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend recently. Deputy Jeffery Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.
I want to honor all of those who gave their life in the line of duty. Although your death was many many years ago, you are still a hero.
To be killed in the line of duty is terrible. To be killed by one of your own is an atrocity.
God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.
...Gone, but never Forgotten....

09-06-03, MAY GOD BLESS. YOU DID NOT DIE IN VAIN. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN. I COMMEND YOU FOR THE FOR THE RIGHT THING YOU DID THAT COST YOU YOUR LIFE. A POLICE OFFICERS JOB IS HARD ENOUGH TO DO SOBER. LET ALONE TRYING TO DO IT UNDER THE INFLUENCE. HIS ACTION HE TOOK AGAINST YOU PRETTY MUCH SHOWS HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN WEARING A BADGE.
