Pat Wallace, thank you for your service and for you and your wife babysitting myself and my sister when my police officer dad from the number 5 went on vacation. I have always remembered you and am sorry I haven't looked you up on the internet until now... You and your wife both were the kindest of people... I will always remember you. Sincerely, Robin Michalski

I was your next door neighbor and only 12 years old when you were killed. You were my first exposure to a police officer and an influential one. I remember when we (the neighborhood kids) Would come to you and talk to you. You were always kind to us when we played dodgeball in the street. We always felt honored and safe that you lived next door. It was such a shock when you were gone. Even now, I think of you often and although I only knew you as a child, you made a huge impression. You were a great guy and officer and are still missed. That is a legacy that lives on.

I am retired after thirty (30) years on the job. I was an 11 year old boy growing up in Pittsburgh when I read and heard the TV news of Patrick's murder. The perpetrator's name is Stanton Story, a BM from the Homewood section of the city. I remember the news article, including the perps picture, like it was yesterday. Patrick, your sacrifice stayed in my thoughts throughout my entire career and life. Rest in Peace knowing you are still thought of after 40 years.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 38th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I remember the Stanton Story case. I don't recall each and every specific detail, but I recall vividly the meat & potatoes of the whole thing. It was in the same league with the Poplawski case. Many will never forget Officer Patrick Wallace, Junior and the circumstances of that despicable day.

On this the 37th anniversary of your line of duty death, you are gone, but not forgotten! Unfortunately, several more friends have been added to the memorial wall, after being tragically taken from our midst all too soon! God bless you and all who knew and loved you. May God continue to bless and keep safe, all those who continue to serve and protect our communities and this nation as law enforcement officers.

Pat and I grew up On Lloyd St. in the Point Breeze section of Pittsburgh.I was just one of the many friends this tough ,likable Irish kid. His tragic ambush death was brought home recently the cowardly ambush of three Pittsburgh Officers from the same No. 5 Station where Pat served. Sadly, it happened again in almost the blink of an eye when Penn Hills Officer Michael Crawshaw was killed in an ambush as he sat in his patrol car. A lot has changed since Pat's death 36 years ago but one constant is that brave young police officers will continue to die serving us.

A time for grief once again in the city of Pittsburgh with the shooting deaths of three Pittsburgh Police Officers from the Zone 5 station in East Liberty. Today, my mother told me of her cousin, Patrick Wallace, who was killed in the line of duty many years ago. I never knew. I found this Officer Down Memorial Page and located Officer Wallace. I am thankful for him and all other police officers who lay down their lives to protect and serve. God bless you all.

As my career's end is coming closer, I decided to check and find those who had lost their lives during the year that I was hired. While it's been many years since your passing, I'm sure those you left behind and those whom with you served with distinction have kept you alive in their memories. Thank you for your service and for looking out for us who continue in our chosen profession. Rest in peace Officer Wallace.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.

As one officer wrote in another fallen officer's reflections-"no fallen officer should be without a reflection." I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Pittsburgh.
