Reflections for Police Officer Fred B. Veretto
Officer Veretto,
I am the grandson of Albert Garcia, the man that murdered you 77 years ago, and whom was lawfully killed by the return gunfire. For the longest time all I was told was that my grandfather died in a car accident.
I am grateful for your service to our country. If you are with Yeshua the Christ in heaven, I look forward to thanking you personally. I know my grandfather was intoxicated on that fateful day, and will likely spend his eternity in Hell.
Like you, I also served in the USN, and served as a Highway Patrolman for 29 years. It saddens me deeply to know this about my family’s past. I look forward to the return of Christ when He makes all things new.
John 3:36:
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Every year since 2009 I have made the blue ribbons with the 51 names of the Oakland Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. It is my honor to do this for the fallen officers. The ribbons hang on a tree outside the Warehouse Bar and Grill in Oakland, California for all to see the sacrifice they have made to keep us safe. God bless you all and rest in peace.
A grateful citizen

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 62nd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
Yesterday I attended the memorial service for your four fallen OPD brothers who were shot on the darkest day of OPD history.
