Reflections for Constable Felix Valenzuela

I recently visited your grave. Another officer left a challenge coin on your grave. Never forgotten and always a hero. Thank you for your service

Ramon, I just read a little bit about your great-grandfather and the Valenzuela Ranch in a book about the Big Bend area called Yonderlings by Ben English. He spoke very highly of Felix Valenzuela. That led me to this sight to find out more about this hero from our past. I’m glad that you were able to learn about him from your grandmother.
In his absence, I want to thank you for his service. I’m grateful for all the men and women in law enforcement.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Constable, you will be remembered for a long, long time to come. My Dad was also a Texas Constable (Pct. 4/Liberty County, Texas) and worked very hard for what he believed in. He retired to live the rest of his life in Terlingua, a place he loved on sight in Gate 4. I know you've met him for he still looks over that beautiful place he loved and roams it happily forever. Rest in Peace, Sir.
