Trooper Avent,
Thank you for your service to the State of North Carolina and most of all for your last full measure of devotion. I cross over the bridge named in your honor almost every day but never knew who you were or the circumstances. Actually, your ultimate sacrifice took place before I was even born but your service and your memory is not forgotten! May you Rest in Peace until our Saviour calls upon you to meet Him in the clouds for the Second Coming!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 60th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
