Thank you for your service and sacrifice. By reading your daughter's reflection, I cannot help but to think that your family has found some peace, however small, in knowing that you left us a hero and that this web site exists for all officers and citizens to say thank you. You will always be remembered.

I would like thank everyone that has shared a piece of their memories of my father. I just recently attended the Mummers Show of Shows and it brings back some of my favorite times with him. Listening to the same story never gets old for me since I was very young when he was killed. Knowing that people think of him still is a blessing.

I was a rookie officer when I was called to Methodist Hospital to drive some members of Officer Trettin's family home after he was declared dead.I was also raised in the Wilson Park Housing Project(where he was killed) as a child. I have never forgotten him or the circumstances of his death.I hope that after all these years his family has found some peace.

I had the honor of attending your plaque dedication. It had to have been one of the hottest days of the year. It is a testament to you that so many of your brothers/sisters came out that day in that heat, most in full uniform, to show this City, your family, and you that we never forget our own. RIP.

I worked with "Tree" years ago (early 70's) in the 22nd District as a rookie cop. Great man, great cop, tremendous loss.

I am a close friend of Tracey Trettin Hamilton. My father, John Monaghan was in the Stakeout Unit with Officer Trettin. I am so happy to see that the Philadelphia Police Department is recognizing him. Even to this day when my father speaks of John Trettin, he still gets tears in his eyes. God Bless you Tracey and your family. The Monaghan family is thinking of all of you.

My father was right behind Officer John S. Trettin when he was shot. I still get tears in my eyes when I hear the story. I was told he was a great man. He will never be forgotten and I hope he is resting in peace looking over his wife, children, and grandchildren.

This is such a wonderful tribute to my father---I was only 6 when my dad was killed--my 2 boys have tons of questions about their grandfather and I really appreciate being able to show them this honoring their "Pop-Pop John"

Thank You
